with the recent issue about the polls ( i admit i kinda contributed to that too )and the posting without research issue, it's obvious that the number of people using the forum has gotten BIG... and I hate to say this but I think we need stricter rules. Maybe even more moderators cuz I kno the amount of work it takes to maintain a forum with over 1000 members (great work done so far btw... congrats on the part of the admins) is not easy for just two or 3 people. I think the members could help out too, by reading the stickies on the top of the forums (and maybe put a statement of some sort like this when people are registering... like make a checkbox for people to check that tells them to read stickies before posting?) Just a thought ps. After admins read this... maybe delete the second paragraph and move it into general forum for people to comment on this issue??
Thanks Jason, There has been some discussion on the part of moderators on the way to go on this. It might entail some redesigning of the webpage. That would be up to the Webmaster. From another perspective: It shows that new people are always continually logging on. Some of these people may be new forum users and unfamiliar with forum design (unfortunate, but we always have to treat these people politely) Some people aren't even familiar with using computers. I just hope other people who registered previously in the past are not lost from the forum.
Re: How come I can't post a poll? If you want to make a poll, contact one of the moderators and suggest a topic.
Is that possible we can provide a list of "favorite topics"? (more like a keyword list)Let's say, list the most "touched" topics, like tension, grip size, popular rackets' performance/preference, etc. This way, ppl can go to "favorite topics" to see whether their thread already being included or not. Kinda a way, help the newbies to search. Just a suggestion.
It's been done already lazy. I forgot where but probably in the beginning of the forum there is a thread called "frequently asked question". You can find a lot of the topics listed there.
http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5563 It's under general forum LB. Not sure if this is what you meant though.
Kinda similar... What I really meant is, a "list of links". Each link is the keyword + common word / description. (example: racket weight: U, 2U, 3U, 4U) This way, instead of letting the newbies really have to type keyword, (sometimes, they don't know the proper keyword. For example, if they use "handle" instead of "grip size", etc) they can just click on proper "hyperlink" and find all the old threads. So, more like a little bit "upgrade" for the one that u showed me.
hmmm that would require the moderator to run through all the topics and some how bunch them all together in a common thread. Doable but takes a lot of time to organize that.
