    2009 French Badminton Open - Friday October 30 (Quarter-Finals)

Today, I guess most of us would be paying attention to Olga Konon, the rising star from the West. Olga will be meeting Pi Hongyan from France.

Yesterday, Olga defeated Wang Shixian, a rising star from China.
    Results:
    Olga KONON[IMG][POL] - [IMG][CHN] Shixian WANG 15-21, 21-15, 21-19 in 52 mins

The matches for today will be starting at 4:00pm and are expected to finish at 10:00pm.

There are so many great mathces tomorrow! Many of the mathces can go either way.
Not an easy round for you PAW'ers.

Of course cheering on Olga tommorow, but she has played many matches - maybe the rising star is a bit tired?

As a dane I'm looking forward to see Peter Gade against Bao Chunlai. I think, if he has the luck, that he can win this one!

Well, time in Paris is different from countries in Asia. From QF matches, it will be started at 4.00pm (about 10.00pm in Asia and some matches start at midnight), so we are very difficult to watch them... what a pity

Chen Long vs Taufik Hidayat [4] -- Chen Long has lost some matches which he should have won lately. Let's see if Taufik can capitalise on this.

    MD QF
Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan [1] vs Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari/Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif [5] -- I hope Kido/Hendra can progress to at least SF.

Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan vs Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen [3] -- it will be a progress if Bona/Ahsan can beat Boe/Moe.

    WS QF
Adriyanti Firdasari vs Yao Jie -- both players are unseeded. Firda might have a slight edge.

    WD QF
    Lena Frier-Kristensen/Kamilla Rytter-Juhl [4] vs Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii [8] -- let's see if Nitya/Grace can spring another surprise.

    XD QF
Kristoff Hopp/Anastasia Russkikh vs Hendra A. Gunawan/Vita Marissa [7] -- AG/Vita should progress to the SF.

    V. Diju/Jwala Gutta [6] vs Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir [2] -- ditto for Nova/Butet. This could be Nova/Butet's last chance for a title.

    Prediction for my countrymen:

    XD QF
KKK/WPT vs TJM/ZYW [8] --A match that can go either way....CHN is considered a newly forged pair but always look dangerous.....if KKK/WPT can blend well....upset might happen

    MD QF
    Fuzzy [5] vs MK/HS [1]
too bad Fuzzy is not the same pair that we are proud of...inconsistent being the main reason...slim chance to win....just hope upset might happened as MK/HS is unpredictable sometimes...

    KKK/TBH [2] vs NR/AC [7]
on paper KKK/TBH should win...but they tend to lost to lower rank pair....furthermore they lost to the same pair during SO...i predict 50-50...

    WD QF
    WPT/CEH [1] vs MJ/WXL [5]
unfortunately we knew that the 1st seed will not win this....no need further comment...
    hope for miracle....

don't forget Olga!!! playing the Lady on her 'second home soil' might not be an easy task, but still good chances since she has nothing to loose:eek:

Nath playing KKK - lets see what happens:confused:

Saina needs - and also deserves:eek: - our full support! She might be the force to break the wall - if Olga can't do it:D

    Taufik - just don't fool around - 2 other hard matches're waiting for you:eek:

Here's how i see the matches..

    - Here are the "doozer" matches, meaning matches you guys can skip and take a nap during:

    LD vs. JP....1st nap
Wallwork & White vs. Cheng & Zhao..2nd nap

    - Here are the "eyes-half-open-half-closed" matches, meaning you guys can open your eyes a bit while still half asleep. Some of 'em might lead to either a "doozer" match or a "eyes wide open" match:

Hopp & Russikh vs. HAG & VM
DV & JG vs. NW & LN
    Firdasari vs. YJ
SJJ & TJM vs. GZD & XC
PP & ZYW vs. DJ & YY
MA & BS vs. MB & CM
LFK & KRJ vs. NKM & GP

The rest of the matches not mention, above, are the "eyes wide open" matches:cool:

    ^^See..^^

..the very 1st post above for the schedule. Both of the "doozer" matches, unfortunately, will fall on Court 2.

thought based on your results of investigations you can set up the 'nap schedule' for us:confused:
why 'unfortunately' - is court 2 the court for live stream?
bet365 was switching courts yesterday- is it the same as that 'french open live stream page' is doing, or is it different cam? just found that french open page this morning:eek:
Does anybody know whether they will broadcast live webstream until the end on Sunday, or will they stop earlier as the Dans did:mad:
did anybody check chinese tv channels? that's what we 'out of Astro area' can watch also - if there is no live stream we need that:rolleyes: I still can not read chinese - so no chance for me to check schedule for chinese sports channels since they do have schedules only in chinese availabel

    ^^I have no clue..^^

    - Last week's Denmark Open livestream, was a disaster; at least for the U.S. region. So, i thought it ain't getting any better this week.
    - Sure enough, no livestream for this French Open. bet365 is also not available for the U.S. region.
    - There are more CHN players in this tourney, so there should be a Chinese based channel broadcasting the matches (at last from SF til Finals). But, no confirmation yet on which channel is broadcasting.

..it's okay, if can't watch live or delay, there are always the recorded videos..
