The dateline to submit your group is Saturday, November 28, 2009.
Please send the name of team leader, members' names, team logo (if available) to info@birdievent.com

Note: We limit the number of players per team to 10 is due to time restriction (round robin). The best two of the bracket will be in Semi-Final...

    Got it..

..so the 10 players are based on "first come, first included" basis??..:)
how abt if there are 9 players and 2 additional people want to join. how would you choose who could make the last spot??..
also, how often are you guys planning to hold this intra-club event?..

If we receive strong supports from members and of course ABC, we are planning to have this event at least 3x a year (Winter, Spring & Summer).

If you have "odd" numbers of players, the team leader will decide the players selection. That is why we require every team to submit the players' names before the event to minimize confusion if player(s) may sign up to multiple teams.

If by the dateline, a team has not submitted the players' names, we will call it forfeit.

    thanks,

What type of shuttlecocks will be allowed to be used in this event ? Or perhaps ABC will become sponsor of the event by sponsoring the birdies for the event ???

The shuttlecock will be provided by the players who participate on the event.
Of course, we do not expect the players to use "plastic" shuttlecock .

We are really pleased to see the enthusiasm of all badminton fans, players and specially the strong supports from the ABC management to this event. Special Kudos to William Chan for his generosity to sponsor this event from the planning to this day.

There were actually more than 12 teams proposed, but we realized time may become the essence. That is why we see the quality of players are suddenly improved, because we ask the team leaders to consolidate their teams to pick the best for their teams. We also noticed some exhibition matches last weekend to pick & choose the best pairs from the respective teams.

We are planning to hold this event in Two-Sunday. We will create 3 brackets with 4 teams each and play the match in round-robin system.

The two top teams from each bracket will go to the final bracket and again will play in round-robin system. The final bracket will be played on the following Sunday.

As many are aware, it will be exhausting (no-break on 11 mid-match points on any sets, 3 minutes max warm-up prior to the match), but sure it will be pleasing. We hope all the efforts, preparation and enthusiasm from everyone will pay-off on the D-day. Everyone are welcome to visit ABC and watch this exciting event.

All comments and suggestions are welcome.

    Thank you,
    Birdievent.com

What keeps it interesting or attractive (and other comments)..

    ..imo is:
    - The Round Robin style and that each team/group is guaranteed to have a chance to play 5 matches against another team/group, win or lose.
    - It's interesting to see players from outside of ABC joining despite a long wait and no winning prize at the end.:p
    - I'm interested to see other reg. ABC members participate as i know there are some regulars who didn't participate this time. I'll be interested to see the response/turn out for this event, the next time it's held. Hopefully there will be more and the ABC community will be a tighter knit group.
    - Good job, Rudy, on the match control for the 1st week.
..this past Sunday, if i recall, it took abt nearly 8 hrs to complete all group plays (each team had to play against 3 others, 15 matches total). I believe they started just after 11 am & ended after 6 pm.
