Friends, Can someone tell me what is the right technique to pick up a shuttle cock lying on the ground with your racket ? Is there any useful information available for this ? Regards, Rajesh
I think you should try to lift the shuttle with the side of racket I had to practice quite a lot to be perfect
Are you talking about when someone nets you and the shuttle just topples over the net? And are you asking about singles or doubles If so then you have to have the following pinned down 1. Footwork
Hold your racket right next to the shuttle, and then do a very quick, and very short twisting motion. No way to explain, just practice. If you can pick it up, you can also try to toss it to someone else in one fluid motion. Or the other way round. And go ahead and catch the flying shuttle with your racket. It's better for your back.
Just watch others and practice it. You really don't need to be quick either. Just produce enough momentum for the bird to stay on your racket.
Thank you everyone. I would continue to try. I understand that it is only through practice that this feat can be achieved. Regards, Rajesh
I think a really easy way to do it is to have it pointing at you then just scoop it up. Seems to work better if it's pointing acha.
practice on carpet because the rug pile will allow some "give" under the bird to get a feel for the motion.
LOL...i used to have problem with this. My advice is to use a racquet you don't mind scratching a bit. Then just put it on the floor beside the shuttle. Imagine there's a hook a the bottom you can scoop the shuttle up with. Then just scoop the shuttle up. Remember to do it from the side. First few times I tried it felt like I scratched the racquet on the floor. After some time, you should be able to do it touching racquet head to the floor.
Best tip you will get. By the way, that the first thing my coach teach us when I started in high school. It help a lot in the actual game too.
I was struggling from so many days to lift the shuttle. But turning the fingers instantly worked Thanks a lot for the tip!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zls0natZqFM This video explains it pretty good. Five minutes ago I couldn't do it at all, but now I can do it almost every time I try.
