Also remember everything is relative. If some one uses a racket like a ns7k and they are play testing with a arc z they may not be a good candidate since the rackets are very different. Also string selection can play a factor. Some one may not like a hard string like bg85 so you would have to compare a different string. There are enormous variables on this, but the general method is accurate. Control as many variables as possible and only vary one variable. Different scenarios could be:

1. Different stringers on the same machine
2. Different machine, same stringer
3. Different stringers on their own machines

All keeping consistent racket and strings. I think the first two will provide the best data.

I think they would be a good canidate because we are only playtesting string. Different playing levels would also be good canidates, doing a blind string test. I would like to use Different stringers on same machine.

A second test would be different stringers on different machines (Same racket same string same tension) can all use same calibrator to calibrate to. Then Kwun could see differences in machines and stringing abilitys.

I would agree with Sir DinkALot. Also, just to add 1 more point about ES5Pro. From what I was taught about ES5pro and what I have done with other machines. The advantage of ECP machine is consistency. Given an inexperienced stringer is well taught and just follow all the instruction point by point, the inexperienced stringer will produce a string job close to 95% of an instructor level stringer. It is just like training a robot to string a racquet. Only difference in this case is the speed and some very minor details which the instructor don't even notice they are doing. Sorry Kwun, the best thing to do is to have a string fest (and beer fest too) at a club in N. Cal or S. Cal. Let's just have fun stringing and get to know what you and other do and you might see some difference.
Actually, I will propose to the evil empire office in torrrance to sponsor a string fest in OCBC. What do you think?

I can talk to zhou liu from Z tomorrow night and see which day is less crowded, so we can use the court without bothersome...

and...we can go eat after we do all the testing, since there is some good place to eat around the block and some open late...

let me know if Z will be your place to do testing, but I do think BBC will be a better place since Ben is more friendly...haha

pattern? the racket has certain gormet that takes 2 string (cross/main), and ones that takes 1 string (main OR cross), as long as you fill all of them, it becomes a bed, there's just 1 pattern stringing the main from inside out then do the cross.

I haven't have anyone to strung my racket for a long time, derrick chen(the young one??)...I used to give him one or two pointer when he still work at Z, jarold...didn't know he string rackets, but I used to do his. Never see Zenas string. Jin...I am not going to say much.

i would also like to do a comparative stringing session. with Alan and i doing the same pattern, same tension, maybe him on my machine, and i on his machine? see if i can get the similar playability as he does. that will be a good learning experience.

scheduling could be tough though as thanksgiving is coming up and i have work piled up to my eyebrows.

anyway, we do need find a time where everyone are able to make it in the first place. I think we should make this meet either every 6 mos or every yrs, that way we can improve each other skills level and share new technics.

Yo it doesnt have to be this month, December would work or even January. BTW Alan, I was thinking Zenas and Hao could be testing the rackets not stringing. I dont know Kwun level, Avg per year but I would put in order of rackets strung:
Alan Kakinami this year @1000 rackets
Kevin Yamaguchi @650 rackets
Alan Tam@ at least 175+
Derek Chen at least 100
Jarold Cordero maybe by the end of the year 30
