Im setting up an online badminton shop. Will be based in Singapore.
Besides Singapore, i would like to focus on shuttlers in Australia and New Zealand.

If you are playing badminton in Singapore, Australia, New Zealand or anywhere else in the world, please tell me what is it that you would like to see, get or pay for in your favorable badminton shop online. :)

    Thank you all, henry.

    good prices and good communication.

you will definitely capture the market with both as many websites only have one or the other.

interested to see your start-up. when will that be? :)

    adonis, thanks for ur reply.

I want to start by early quarter next year.

I can really understand the good prices bit, because i had an australian friend who was in Singapore this year and commented how cheap are the badminton stuffs here in Singapore as compared to Aussie.

well yes that is true, retail badminton prices are awfully high.

however i have to warn you that most, if not all of badminton fanatics in Australia purchase their equipment from foreign online shops that sell badminton gear at the same prices that they would in that country. MBS and badmintonshoponline are just some of them. the only added cost is the postage which is understandable.

you have the advantage as Singapore is much nearer to Aus than China/HK, and therefore postage should be cheaper. if you prices are competitive, i'm sure you'll do well :)

We will provide the shipping rates as-it-is(without markup) that we got from our post office to our customers. Hoping it would be almost free shipping.

We can do MSN(or/and other media channels i.e. twitter, facebook) and reviews as well.

    Thanks for ur post. :)

well, so far, majority of the things i see being sold most in Oz are Yonex branded. Maybe some other brands like APACS, Victor, etc..?
Even shoes and such, the concentration seems to be around Yonex....

Thou' good, but too 'premium' for my liking...

Yes, we are lucky in Singapore to have a wide range of brands and products. Such as Victor, Head, Pro-Kenneth, as well as Mizuno footwear.

Will look to make these brands and products available online.

    Thanks for your post. :)

Yonex is the main brand here. The other good smaller brands that we can get here in Brisbane is Carlton and Inflight. Shoes are pretty much Yonex here.

My brand of choice at the moment is Sotx.

Basically the only shop here in Melbourne worth anything is Stadium Sports, and they only really have Yonex with the odd prince and Kawasaki thrown in. None of the other big brands are represented at all. I did meet a guy bringing in RSL, but that's about it.

    You'll need-

    a] fast, concise service
b] Don't try and make your margins up on shipping or nobody will buy
    c] Competitive pricing
    d] Solid, reliable inventory

In terms of brands I think the big interest is going to be in Li-Ning. The Mizunos might get a bit of interest, as might SOTX although their line-up is confusing to say the least. Apacs might also generate some sales, but there's not a lot of solid info about their non-clone rackets short of Dink liked them previous to making his own.

Strings are very expensive to buy here in the shops.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions so far. :)

One fine day, when it is feasible to do so, i hope to do like a badminton rackets tour around Australia and New Zealand.
With the tour, I will bring along a whole bunch of rackets from various brands, such as Yonex, Victor, Carlton, Head, Karakal, ProKenneth, Sotx and others, to the badminton clubs/groups and let everyone have a chance to try, play with it and see which one they like best.

One fine day.. what do you think?

hmm i'm not so sure about Carlton, Head, Karakal etc. But you should definitely try Apacs as they continue to grow in popularity in countries like the US and UK.

check out apacs USA/canada website and fb page
    http://www.facebook.com/apacsbadminton?ref=ts

see how this guy takes such a personal approach in explaining the differences between rackets, recommendations, great promotions and pictures etc.

i think if you do that, you will be successful.

btw, calibre australia is only okay for sydney. they're not that cheap when shipping to other parts of aus is included. sites like MBS and badmintonshoponline is still cheaper.

Thanks for the encouragement. I hope the online store will be a success. I understand that will only happen if we listen to our customers and deliver what they want! :)
