What are our BCers' thoughts on this?

Here is one of the many articles:
Badminton has become the latest sport to reject plans by the London 2012 to relocate it for the Olympics to Wembley

I believe it has been confirmed that badminton will be staged at Wembley Arena.
I think it makes a lot of commercial sense considering the amount of overspending that's already happening. Besides, the olympic village and Wembley is not exactly a million miles
    apart.
Plus, Wembley is nearer to me :D and has lots of parking spaces.
It'll feel like taking a trip down memory lane when i'm there.

BWF has still not made a decision

    .
At the first plan for the 2012 Olympic Games, Badminton was to be staged at a temporary stadium (in Greenwich) which will be built for it. The building would be scrapped after the Games. Now, they are thinking of not building the temporary stadium; to save money.

Last month (October, 2009), this was one of the articles released: click here
Yesterday, this article was released: click here

But BWF said that they will not make a decision about whether to accept the move to Wembley before Friday (today) when its ruling Council meets in Bali. The BWF's chief operating officer Thomas Lund said: "We have still not made a decision."

Weeks ago, BWF was saying that Wembley is too far from the Olympic Village for our players to travel.

Wembley is one place with rich Badminton history

    .
    That's one thing for sure.

Wembley is one place with rich Badminton history (with so many All-England tournaments staged there).

Distance and travel wise, if i recall, last yr's badminton venue in Beijing was also quite a distance to the athlete's village. Certainly, it wasn't a stone's throw away or within walking distance.

I don't mind badminton reusing an existing venue like the Wembley. If it's still useable, then why not?

Wembley is one place with rich Badminton history

    .
Received some messages asking me why I've cared so much about where Badminton would be staged at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Answer: Since Wembley is one place with rich Badminton history (with so many All-England tournaments staged there before), it would be great to hold our 2012 Olympic Badminton matches there, IMHO.

So far, we have received 7 BCers' votes. All votes went "YES" for Wembley. :):):)
