if i string it at 28lbs, roughly how much would the tension drop before it stabilizes?

Tension holding is average only. It drops quite a fair amount (2-4lbs) if not pre-stretch properly. So its advisable to string around 29lbs++ (VS850 optimum tension) with 5% pre stretch and let it drop. Then the playability is very good and could last about 1-2 months depend on frequency of play.

It is durable. So far so good and I am on my 3rd restring that the tension die off and not due to breakage.

I just restring my newly purchased Spira21 with VS-850 at 25Lbs but i will be able to touch it 2 months later. I asked my gf to do it for me, but she'll be using the racket for a while until Dec. Would the string still deliver its top performance by December? or should i re-string it again by then?

what does "pre-stretch" mean? does it have anything to do the performance of the string?

refer here for the purpose of pre-stretch: http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/sho...retch%20string

and by 5% means 5% more than the intended tension?

Yes 5% more than the tension you request, for example, if you request 25lbs, with a 10% prestrech, then the string would be streched to 27.5lbs, before being relieved to settle at 25%, it helps to hold tension, especially with strings like BG65 which lose tension so fast.

Guys, i just strung my SW35 with VS-850 at 26lbs on a victor ecp machine. it's stiff and powerful. however, my net drop shots all went haywire, not enough bounce i guess.

have u made a break in already play with it first so that the strings will seat uniformly maybe ur dropshots will be much better

My experience with VS 850 is thst this string performs very well but it isn't durable. It breaks after 2 month on my Super Inside Wave and on Brave Sowrd 10 it has noticeable signs of wear. The performs is awesome but in terms of durability I switch now to BG 80.

Heh - my affair with VS850 has already come to an end: I just couldn't abide that tension loss. (Now I know why the Korean squad strings so tight...).

    Z62 FTW, for me.
