make sure you remove the strings as soon as posible, so it does not warp
after that just store it in a safe place that cannot be damaged, and your good to go

Tnx 4 the tip, so the racket is already hopeless if the string snaps right?

as long as you remove the strings it should be ok
after all high end raquets come without strings, so your raquet should be ok if u take the strings out

It's already a very bad idea if you played with it right?

what racket do u have and what tension is it at
if its at a really high tension then i would not bother playing with it
but if its lower than 20 i'd still play with it if its not possible to get it restrung

cut it. and cut it right away.

depending on where it broke, and since it is relatively high tension, it is possible to create high stress point in the frame. over time, the string will gradually slide and the stress will be larger.

You guys sound like you break one string and that's it for that string job. Doesn't anybody patch anymore?

If I break a string, I set the racket aside immediately so I don't lose any more tension until I can patch it.

Heck, I started playing back in the 70s when 15 pounds was considered tight.

true true. when strung anything below 20 or so lbs, one can patch the string if desired. but you should see it when a 26lbs string snaps, the tension pulls the string ends almost up to the middle of the racket. imagine all those "slack" is deforming the racket itself, that will be hard to recover from a patch string.
