i havent tried both these strings on my racket, but ive heard that 85 is more durable , looked at the back of packaging basically says the same thing so is there any difference in these 2?

im planning to buy the durable of the 2, and other strings ive used, which include:Bg70 PRO(really durable holds tension really well), and BG68Ti(lasted me only 2 months my parents got really pissed :p) and BG 65 Ti(really good lasted me 6 months)

i usually get my rackets strung at 23X23 or 24X24

    thanks :D

Durability wise, its the other way around. BG80 is more durable than BG85. You can't go wrong with either string in my opinion.

BG80 is pretty good for retaining tension (of course not as good as BG70 pro) and I find that it does a better job than BG85.

If BG 65Ti last 6 monthes, The Bg 80 would be 3 monthes. BG85 1 month.

IME BG85 is a tiny bit more powerful than BG80 but is nocticeably less durable and loses tension slightly quicker. If cost and availability are an issue I'd go for BG80, as it's 95% as good as BG85 and more durable and holds tension better.

yea...go 4 bg80..if u dont mind paying a little bit more, u can try nbg95.they are more durable than all of them and can hold tension quite well.power is not as great at bg80 or 85.but not bad either..

I agree 100% with Mark A on this one. I really can't tell that BG85 is more powerful than BG80 but I can definitely tell that BG80 last longer than BG85. I like them both though.

I use BG80..Never seems to give me a problem at all..unless if ure a hard smasher..:D..Smash it hard then u can see the string loses its tension mericulously..

BG80 is good hard hitter. BG85 last only 2 weeks for me.

I should also add that BG85 has to be imported to UK; not sure how it is in N. America/Can, but we're pretty much limited to the big five: 65, 65Ti, 68Ti, 80, and NBG95. My overarching point here is that BG80 may be by far the easier to replace:).

It's also worth noting that no pro (at least none I'm aware of) uses 85, while many use 80 - this is a strong indicator of 80's relative durability...

I have been using BG80 for the last six months. Have my own 6-point stringer, and have strung my Armortec 900P a few times, from 24/26 to 29/31 #s during this period. Found the ideal tension to be 26/28 #s. Am a hard hitter and love to smash. Have to restring every 4 weeks to maintain the ideal tension...play 2-8 hours a week.

Recently I got myself some BG85s and would like some advise as to the tension. I know it's 0.01 mm thinner. I have in mind to string at 25/27 #s. Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

    Thx

    Chilli

You could put it at same tension as BG80. It lost tension little fast than BG80. The has same smashing power but better at net play. If you have some string protector, put them at top, for me it is a must for BG85. otherwise it wouldn't last over 2 weeks.

Thanx for the advise, Tim1456:). Will do just that. Can't wait to see what the difference is between the the strings, personally...so many contradicting views out there:confused:.

You don't need a string protector. I personally used BG-85 before and it definately lasted longer than two weeks at 25/27.

The string does definately last shorter than BG-80 especially with the cold weather now since it is winter. I'm sticking with BG-68T.
