Currently my mp77 and cab23 is strung at 24 lbs. Does anyone here who has the same racquets string them at higher tension? Ben
G'day, Yes I have a MP77AS at 25lbs and a MP77SP at 26lbs without any problems. I don't have a Cab23 but my Cab21 is strung at 26lbs and although it feels like a wooden plank when playing, it is still strong.
G'day, I use a combination of BG80, BG85, and BG68Ti. At the moment one has BG85 and the other one has BG68Ti. Both strung at 25lbs.
I'm currently using MP77 Canadian model with Yonex BG65Ti @ 24lbs. Sounds very good and felt not too bad. I have not tried this same racquet with other string and tension, but I think I may get more power from a lower tension. With that, I might not get good control.
Xuser: I would have to disagree with the low-tension=> high power statement. When I bought my cab23, it was strung with factory string and factory tension. It was horrible to play with. It felt like it was 18lb, definitely below 20 lb for sure. The string absorb most of my power. I immediately restring the racquet to 24lb and whoa, it was awesome. Ben
Sorry, I should have make it more clear. What I meant was a lower tension than 24lbs but not too low, like below 18lbs. I find that if the tension is low enough to create a rebound affect, it should give you a lot of power. There are threads in this forum that discussed this issue so I don't want to repeat myself.
