Hi BCBF Members, I just want to start a thread to help stringers on some tools when I see a deal. If you find something good, please add to this tool. Here is a good tool to use for calibration http://www.eforcity.com/cothlugscle1.html?efaffbenstxt091130=bensbargains+cothlugscle1 Please note, many of the deal do not last very long. So if the link is no longer valid or the deal is expire, please do not post any hate mail...
Better deal on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/40kg-20g-Mini-P...ultDomain_0?hash=item3ca640e2ee#ht_2670wt_958
I'm going to assume this is for calibration, yes? And it works horizontally as well? man I was looking for a good cheap one.
And the grommet grinder is for removing grommets, yes? While this may be more expensive by 5 dollars, you get two instead of one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...2728707&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_722
I am so happy that people are finding good deal and sharing. Some of them might be good for x-mas gift.
Oh yea. I'd love some Yonex flying clamps for X-mas. The cheapest I could find them are $28.35 (after CA sales tax) from somewhere I can get someone to pick up for me (Badminton Alley in San Jose, CA), anyone found anything better? Or, if anyone wants, I can buy a bunch, and redistribute. If I remember right, there's a 5 dollar shipping box that should accommodate any number of yonex flying clamps to anywhere in the US.
These are awesome!!! I compared mine to my boss' $200 electronic professional calibrator and works pretty much the same. I was also thinking about getting digital caliper to measure guage of string http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...232015&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_3161wt_963 and I have a scale to weigh rackets http://cgi.ebay.com/Precise-Digital...Equipment2?hash=item3a556b0b73#ht_4196wt_1165 stupid little toys to have
My supplier sells them for £10.95 + VAT with a 5% discount, so they come out at £11.96 (but VAT is going back up to 17.5% next year, so they'll be £12.22 from then on). In $US this is around $19.74/$20.17.
I see. Thanks mark, but with shipping, I think it would come out to be no more than a dollar or two of savings, not worth the trouble really. Kakinami, I'd be willing to pay in money order or paypal, but unless the savings outweighs the amt i pay for shipping for 4 clamps by more than a few dollars each, the same goes.
I can get you clamps for $25 each tax included. BA would be like $66 with shipping for a pair. I can get them to you for $55 shipped to Davis. I could prolly meet up in the bay area to drop off.
See now that's a deal i can take advantage of. I'll let you know once I round up 50 bucks. My spending money is all gone for this month after buying a new (used) stringing machine.
Don't assume, I bought 4 pcs YY clamps from them and it was a total of 50 pounds ~ USD81.80. The royal post only charged 6.2 pounds for the shipping to north america.
Any ideas on where to find some decent cheap needle-nose pliers and wire cutters? Could also use a non-pointy awl like the Yonex ones (too many times popping string with a sharp awl). @Kakanami: Alan, is that calibration tool any good? Andrew
On Ebay there about £2-2.50 each and if you find a seller with both you get a postage discount. There exactly the same as the ones you get with badminton machines Noppy for example http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Mini-Long...tZUK_Hand_Tools_Equipment?hash=item3355c30407
nippers I much prefer this type of side-cutter, as the standard type tends to crush, rather than slice, through the string. Look at the price, too! I could do with another pair actually...
