. Taufik Hidayat's apology for the 2009 Super Series Masters Finals failure From Jakarta Globe (click here): Taufik Exits Badminton Super Series Finals in Malaysia on a Sorry Note Here is the article: Taufik Hidayat played so bad at this week’s Super Series Masters Finals that all he could do was apologize. The former world champion bowed out of the season-ending tournament without a win in three group matches, the final nail coming in a 21-17, 21-15 loss to Hsieh Yu-hsin of Taiwan on Friday. Taufik had said before the tournament that the draw he received in Johor Baru, Malaysia, “was tough.” That might have been an understatement. He failed to win a set in losing to Bao Chunlai of China, world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia and Hsieh in Group A. After dropping a heartbreaker to Bao in the opener on Wednesday, he was dismantled by Lee 21-6, 21-13 on Thursday night. “I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to play my game, the one that everyone was expecting. Hopefully, I will do better next year,” he wrote on his Facebook page. Since the Super Series was introduced in 2008, Taufik, who left the national team earlier this year to turn professional, has yet to win a title in the top-notch tournament, settling for runner-up three times this season — in France, Japan and Indonesia. “[This season] is over, and I will just use this as my motivation for the Malaysia Open Super Series next month,” the 28-year-old said on the Badminton World Federation’s Web site. The Malaysian Open Super Series will be held in Kuala Lumpur on Jan. 19-24 (2010). ............ .
There was a mention that Taufik wrote on his Facebook . Perhaps Taufik felt that he has let INA and his fans down. There was a mention that he wrote on his Facebook (where he informed his fans): “I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to play my game, the one that everyone was expecting. Hopefully, I will do better next year”. .
Sorry, I might missed something. What's the excuses he gave here? At least I dont see one in the article.
Thank you for your reply. However, I have a different opinion: that's a "fact", not an "excuse", unless you consider LCW, BCL and HYH as mediocre players which you can beat any time any day.
Tough draw?? I think a draw with Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei and Gade (or Chen Jin= would be a tougher draw for him If the final is the top 8 ranked SS players, I think you should not expect an Easy draw /Twobeer
surely, a WC and OG champ should able to take down Hsieh Yu Hsin who i think hasn't won anything outside of TW
LCW should have gone a little easier on TH, isn't the superseries final like a year-end party for the top players? Since there are no points, and LCW knows he will win anyways. But perhaps this is his new tough, attacking style, which i like.
if u can't read, it does say, he wasn't able to play his game. everyone has their off days. so what he loses to HYH of TPE? That guy's at least a QF at OG08, not some featherweight. as for "excusing" that it was a "tough draw", in comparison to group B, no doubt group A was tougher. plus, it was HIS opinion. what's the guy suppose to say when you ask him to comment if not what he thinks? Even so, just looking at the draws, it's not an excuse; it's fact. just luck of the draw, that's all.
What can I say? Even the current Olympic champion & 3 times World Champion lost out to Chen Long, a green player who has yet to win anything(probably except WJC). Let's not forget that this reigning Olympic champion & 3 times World Champion, supposedly the greatest badminton player of all time, even lost out to PSH who I dont think has ever win a SS title before. So should TH do a "must win" match when playing against HYH? tough call.
