Lately, it's found not many threads have been closed by our BC admin/moderators.

It must be because that our BCers are now well-behaving.

Many congratulated Lin Dan for winning the the 2011 Korea PSS.

But many comments have made Lee Chong Wei looking small/inadequate.

Many congratulated Lin Dan for winning the the 2011 Korea PSS.

But many comments have made Lee Chong Wei looking small/inadequate.

Some of the comments were quite useful and neutral.

Common sense says that it works both ways, repeated taunts and snide remarks on

certain stars will surely provoke tit for tats from rivals. To avoid it is best to remain
neutral, censor not only criticisms from rivals but also practice self-censorship avoid
provoking statements that is obvious will attract counter attacks.

Chris CC is quite neutral and we have mods here but the self-appointed vigilantes

are themselves not doing much to promote discussion.Instead there appears to be attempts to bait and

undermine the mods and prevent them from doing their job.

If I were a moderator, I would close down that thread too.

It started as a 'positive' thread to congratulate Lin Dan. Unfortunately, it ended up as a 'negative' thread to belittle Lee Chong Wei.

That thread aside, if we want to prevent similar incidents, we have to set a good example by not belittling and mocking anyone whether

rivals, mods, other forum members etc. We do not want a situation where there are groups dominating and browbeating other members from

speaking their minds, that would be Mat Rempit behaviour.

Also its silly to try to tell people to stick within the topic, so long as it is related, it is relevant, otherwise we will have thousands of little posts with bits of limited superficial information like in facebook or youtube, this is a forum not a chat-room and it allows more details and related info to be discussed in greater depth and scope.

For eg, WTM's discussion was interesting, once you open a new thread, people lost interest because the background info was cut-off.

Of course it would be better to move part of the thread but I think mods have a full time pro job and cant afford to spend time moving and

joining threads everyday.

Of course there are volunteers to do the job but there are also pros and cons with that, we end up with a heavily censored

movie where only certain people are allowed to say only certain things.

you are attempting to twist my words.

we are trying to moderate the forum such that useful information can be expressed in a polite and civil manner.

for those who are knowledgeable, say it in a nice way. if one know a bunch of stuff, why come out arrogant and rude? it makes much more sense to express it so it can be accepted.

for those who are seeking knowledge, or those who are less informed, polite ask for and accept new knowledge from others. no one knows everything, everyone need to learn from others.

that's the goal of the forum.

My philisophy concurs with yours. It's meaningless to tell the world where we are, people will be much more impressed and convinced one day when they discover where we are....

I couldn't agree with you more.

Our kwun and moderators have kept BC going well. Although some BCers are not thinking similarly, most BCers understand that we are here as a community of Badminton lovers.

It is often that we find BCers loving their idols (and other things) instead of loving our sport, Badminton, itself.

it is not possible to force everyone to behave overnight. but hopefully by letting everyone know what our goal is, by having members understand what our aim is, then people will slowly realize that we can discuss and talk about our beloved game of badminton in a civil way.

and i hope members who knows our goal here will help us by lead by example.

There are other problems with that approach too:

1) You end up with many posts delted, or a thread of rubbish if you take the interesting parts of one discussion & condense it into a new thread

2) New people may join in the thread 6 months down the line, not knowing we have removed other points may kick start it all over again

3) As you also note some other members may not like the heavy moderation/deltion of posts

The best way for the forum to succeed is for member to observe the rules and try to contribute with their posts rather than posting one liners, abuse or sarcasm. People should respect each others opinion & post their own instead.

I actually find it strange when I see some BCers posting one liners.

These BCers look like they wish to communicate, but wish not in full.

Are they keeping us guessing what they are trying to tell us? I say this because their one liners do not mean much, or contribute much in the discussions/threads.

Yes, many a times, I am confused by their 'one liner' posts.
