. Badminton is now so popular in the Philippines Greetings, I couldn't believe it when I read this article: Have your car washed while you are playing Badminton Sunday, December 13, 2009 New Car Wash at Marika Badminton Centre Cheers... chris-ccc .
Added services. Yes badminton is still popular but not as hot compare to years back. With the new generation of players coming up.. i hope they will be able to boost the popularity again.
but the players there are very impolite im not racist or anyting but some of the players are very irritating. I recently did a tournament with players coming for most different asian countries and i personally think that the players that had the best conduct were the thailand team.THAIS ROCK!!!
Yes, i agreed , a lot of pinos come over singapore holiday also want to buy Li Ning N-series racket at 10 & 10.
Often, players love Badminton just for themselves . True. It would take us some time to get to know those players; I mean, those who love Badminton not just for themselves, but for others too. In Melbourne, Australia, we do find players from the Philippines friendly; not just loving Badminton just for themselves. .
Don't see PHI GP Gold in BWF 2010 Calendar which usually scheduled on June-July like previous editions (2007, 2009).
^^Unfortunately..^^ ..looking at those yrs, 2007 & 2009, we probably won't see another Philippines Open GP 'til like 2011. And, yes, i can confirm, i don't see any Philippines Open GP on BWF's 2010 schedule either.
Beauties play Badminton . Also couldn't believe it when 25 international beauties (Miss Earth candidates) joined the 2009 Nesvita Fun Badminton Tournament at the Yonex Philippines Badminton Club in Mandaluyong City, to play Badminton and having so much fun. Source: http://www.malaya.com.ph/01062010/ent3.html Beauties play Badminton Trading their dresses and high heels for a racket and a shuttlecock, 25 Miss Earth candidates joined the 2009 Nesvita Fun Badminton Tournament at the Yonex Philippines Badminton Club in Mandaluyong City. The international beauties bared their rarely seen sporty side as they partnered with and competed against the local press corps, which included Francis Raña of Cinema News, Alert Melba Lllanera of Pep.ph and Nympha Miano-Ang of Bulgar. The tournament is part of Nesvita’s thrust to promote the health and wellness lifestyle to adult women, and the candidates proved they are good role models. While Miss Earth candidates are not given any pageant points for winning here, they still played with unfailing enthusiasm. Candidates like Miss Earth-Japan Takada Tomomi and Pakistan’s Ayesha Gilani even took off their non-athletic shoes and eagerly did their warm-ups barefoot on the club’s matted floor. There was no common language for some of the Miss Earth candidates, but the speech barrier disappeared as they started playing on the court. "Some of them could barely communicate verbally with their badminton partners or their opponents, but they just played on. They just had too much fun to worry about understanding each other’s words," says Gerard Poa, Nesvita Consumer Marketing Manager. Flashes of their competitive streak also showed through. This was exemplified by Miss Earth-Australia Melinda Heffernan, whose lively and spirited manner both on and off the court earned her the Miss Nesvita Beautiful Inside and Out award. "I had so much fun here playing badminton with my fellow candidates. I’m not really not an athlete, but I like doing exercises and engaging in sports," shares Heffernan. Other candidates stood out for their own energetic performances as well. Miss Earth-Latvia Diana Kubasova won Miss Nesvita Pro-Digestion Smoothest Moves award, Miss Earth-South Africa Chanel Grantham got the Miss Nesvita Pro-Weight Management Light On Her Feet award, Miss Earth-Israel Noy Michaelov captured the Miss Nesvita Pro-Heart Most Courageous and Miss Earth-Georgia Nonna Diakonidze copped the Miss Nesvita Pro-Bone Protection Power Smash Award. .

It used to be more popular. The height of badminton's popularity in our country was in the years 2005 to 2007. During those years, celebrities were really into the sport. But like any fad, its popularity slowly diminished. There are still some tournaments and consistent badminton fanatics here, but most are just social players and not into learning and improving. Hopefully, the younger genereations will revive the sport. This is great news. But it's not new. The Winner Badminton Club in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, was the first badminton court I've seen that offered car wash, spa, haircut, gym, and coffee. It's just located in the province so it's not much accessible to urban people.
