    My friend help me out w/ taking picture with his Cannon 20D w/50mm f/1.8 lens

    Yes, the Canon 20D is good enough to take baddy pics. There are quite a few used ones on the market (craiglist) which you can grab for cheap. Other than the body, you need a fast lens (the 50/1.8 you also can buy for cheap).
