What Yonex racket do you guys recommend me get.
I am looking for a racket that:

    - Costs $50 - $75
    - Powerful smash

    Don't limit yourself to Yonex
Try Apacs, they have amazing rackets for that price range such as the edgesaber or nano series

Agreed and a powrful smash is based on the player, not just the racket.

Where could you get those rackets you suggested in Canada, Toronto? Is there perhaps a site I could buy it from?

And which edgesaber/nano racket do you suggest I get from my price range?

I'm pretty sure you'll find a ton of information regarding apacs here on BCF is you tried searching. You can also demo the apacs rackets as I have heard before you purchase them.

Ok, you've got me a little confused. You're giving a $200 racket to your brother and buying a $60 one for yourself?

The Lethal 70 (if within spec) is the better smashing racket. Stiff and head heavy. On the other hand, you can get both for $200 right now... great deal so get both :)

Well which one do you think is better in your opinion...
    Lethal 70 or Tantrum 300?

Btw can you give me a lesson in tensions and all those stuff with strings. Dx lol. Cause I don't know what I should do with the strings! Thanks!

Lethal 70= singles only (extra stiff+ headheavy, very powerful ,but slower)

Tantrum 300 = all rounder (stiff+headheavy (but not as much as L70), fast, good defence)

If you have NO clue about tensions, start off with 22lbs (or 22x24 if you want a little bit higher) with BG65 and if you find that the string is too loose (you feel like theres too much power but too little control), tighten the strings. if the string feels too tight (for example, when you smash, you get no control and very little power), loosen the strings.
There are many many badminton retail stores in toronto (eg, maxsports, mjstrings) just ask them to string them for you =)

Assuming from the choices APACS gives: If you / ur brother is a beginner / intermediate in badminton go for Yonex BG65 with around 22x20 tension, it should be pretty good. If you're wanting power but sacrificing durability, go with BG80 instead.

I like the Tantrum better as it's a better all round racket. Strings are very personal but I'd suggest the BG80 over the 65 since the tension won't be that high and unless you hit very hard you shouldn't break them very often.

I haven't tried the lethal 70 before, but I'm currently using Tantrum 300 for both singles and doubles (until Trinity 2 arrives anyway :D) and I must say it's one hell of a racket!

I haven't tried the Tantrum Light Exclusive, but I have the Lethal Light Special. It is really maneuverable and yet feels amazingly solid. Super effective for front net and defending in doubles yet packs a solid enough punch smashing from baseline.

I still prefer my Tantrum 300 though! A bit lacking in defense and net, but more power. It's all a compromise, but since I play mixed doubles I'm at the back most of the time :)
