I'm planning on ordering a new racket. But I have the option to choose a gripsize. I can choose between g3 and g4. It's a Yonex btw.

I have a mp 25 now, and I like the grip that's already on it. But I don't know which gripsize it is. Is there any way to find out?

    Thanks in advance

    1) If it is MP25, it is most likely G4.
    2) We got a problem here. Depend on how long and how often you use the racquet, The grip might be wear down to a G5 now.
    Good luck.

i doubt the grip will wear down too much, will it?
also, for EU countries, the normal grip size is G3, i would suggest you go back to the shop you bought it from and check the racquets there, if you are able to.

The orignal grip will wear down but it does not affect the wood handle itself is a fixed size and will not wear down.

unless the wood absorbs a lot of moisture/sweat and compresses when it dries

Highly doubtful it would happen that way with constant maintainace to the grip. Even if it does, it wouldn't be noticable. Unless one starts to start shaving the grip down, then yeah that would be signficant.

Maybe after years of exposure, it will do down to probably 1/2 a size, to exaggerate. But not down 1 full sizes. Unless you dip the handle in water and use a hairdryer on it for a few weeks :p

bowi12, If the MP25 is G4, get another G4. I dont think that years of usage is going to make the grip go down 1 full size. 'Unless one starts to start shaving the grip down' Matt

I'll definatley dip it in water! Probably some rotting and swelling to go with it. :D

I would say stick with G4 overall since that is the most common grip size for the majority of players use.

thanks for all the wonderful answers.

I guess I'll go for the g4 then
g4 is smaller then g3 right??

Then I can always increase the size a little with some overgrips if needed. But I guess that won't be needed.

Yes. G4 is smaller than G3. The range for rackets would be from G3 to G5. There is also a G6 however that is only for certain rackets in only for the Japan market only.

Long ago, Yonex did used to have a G2.
