    Kido / Hendra Leave Cipayung

Back to the Club, Show Promise if needed Transfer

JAKARTA - The failure of newly harvested PB PBSI XXV/2009 SEA Games in Laos. In the event that ended last week, the army Cipayung, PB PBSI Pelatnas headquarters, just win four gold. In fact, sport has always been the pride of Indonesia is targeting five gold.

Completing failure, not sticking out the news about the conditions conducive Cipayung. One of them is indicated by the withdrawal plan multiple male partner Beijing Olympics gold medalist in 2008 Markis Kido / Hendra Setiawan. "Incidentally, our contract was up last December. I think, this time to resign," said Kido to Jawa Pos yesterday (21/12).

Why Kido decided to leave the Cipayung? He stated that his health condition is not strong enough to remain in Cipayung. Left knee injury that never healed with Hendra make appearances in several international arena decreased. Throughout this year, they only won two titles super series, In Japan and France.

Not only the knee injury that made Kido steady to leave Cipayung. In August, Kido / Hendra are not sent to the world championship in Hyderabad, India, due to health problems. Kido had hypertension. "Since then, I was not able to follow the training program in Pelatnas well," he said.

Coaches who handle Kido, Sigit Pamungkas, also did not dare to give full training portion. For the support Sigit, Kido / Hendra persisted until the end performed the SEA Games match XXV. The result, Kido / Hendra reap gold medal from the individual numbers.

Problem hypertension, PB PBSI make Kido regulations deemed satisfactory. Because, in a contract clause with PB PBSI, the players themselves will bear the risk if there is a problem in the field. In fact, Kido risks that could lead to collapse in the field of death. "Therefore, I chose to resign," said the athlete was born in Jakarta, August 11, 1984, the.

Actually, the condition is not problematic as Hendra Kido. However, as long paired with Kido, he left Pelatnas compact. They had been together since I was in PB Jaya Raya.

Secretary General Jacob Rusdiyanto PB PBSI can not render a decision on the fate Kido / Hendra. "We just got back from the SEA Games. Agenda closest to evaluate our performance during this year," he said. "For business Kido / Hendra, we will discuss next," added the man from Surabaya.

PB PBSI in the calculation, there will be 78 players in the major Pelatnas. A total of 39 athletes pratama Pelatnas players will move from Magelang to Cipayung. This time PBSI did not have to return first players such as when there is change of management last year. Player contracts will be carried out early January. "March after seleknas results will be determined players who came out and the inside," said Jacob. (vem / ang)

With all those health problems, this pair still won the SEA Games, French Open and Asian Championships. Something to be proud about.

But surely PBSI should take up the responsibility of ensuring their athletes are properly treated for any medical condition.

The resignation letters from Kido and Hendra are already on the National Team's desk now. No response from the management so far. If I were the National Team manager, I would just accept the resignation with a note that as long as Kido-Hendra are willing to play in the Thomas Cup, Sudirman Cup, Asian Games, and the Olympics, there should be no bad blood between any party here. :) Actually, Kido-Hendra's absence will make room for more money in the National Team pocket for the rest of the team. ;)

There were rumors awhile ago about Li Ning offering them a sizeable contract if they choose to play outside the National Team. But we have heard no confirmation on the finalization of any deal between them.

As to the question of "where will they practice?" I think the most likely answer is: practice together with Hendra AG, Alvent, Vita, Flandy... :)

In other sports, Rafael Nadal etc. willingly join the Spanish Davis Cup team when the country needs them... It is part of their patriotic duty as citizens... It should be a big privilage and honor to play on behalf of your home country. Other than the occasional Olympic or Davis Cup 'call of duty', Nadal etc. are free to earn their own living like any sports professionals.

I think the same logic can be applied to Kido-Hendra. Indonesia is a democracy... The same democratic principles should be applied to citizens who want to choose what is [legally and ethically] best for their livelihood.

Kido-Hendra will continue playing and will still entertain us fans. They just will not be part of the National Team training program, that's all... Well, look at Taufik, Vita-Hendra, and Alvent-Hendra... They are doing reasonably well right? Taufik is now ranked #3 in the world. It has been quite a long time since that happened. :p Indonesian badminton fans still love to watch them play and they are still playing for no other country. This is good.

    Hypertension, not hypotension ..... :p

Hypertension is high blood pressure. Hypotension is the other way round, low blood pressure.

In medical terms hypotension could be more dangerous than hypertension because the brain might not be getting enough oxygen.

Yup, agree with Krisna. As long as PBSI is willing to be open-minded about the whole thing and not put ex-national trainees in the sideline just because they don't train together anymore, Kido/Setiawan could still end up representing the nation in major events.

    Hehehehe... that's right Abedeng! ;)

As for Kido's hypertension... last time he collapsed on the floor of Cipayung's training ground... he admitted he ate crab, durian, and cow's brain the night before... That's just BAD BAD judgement... he is a top world athlete... he should know very well those things cause hypertension...

It is about Money..Kido had planned to leave Pelatnas while ago...so no shocking here.
In MAS, LCW, KKK?TBH and WPY/ECH get extra money from Yonex beside team's contract...
Last december, Kido/Hendra got it as well but PBSI will not allow it...even with some negotiation with PBSI where PBSI would get a cut...
Yonex still offers them a very good money over 6 figures for each person....also Japanese club may hire them as well..also currently they have Herbalife as sponsorhip and looking for few more outside as well..Gatorade could be one of them plus others..
Hendra just follows what Kido does...

The problem is PBSI needs them for Thomas cup...I heard PBSI is planning to ask Vita to join for Uber cup to pair with Butet again...not sure for now...
If PBSI agrees then they may ask Kido/Hendra to participate Thomas cup

In pelatnas, Kido/Hendra got US$ 60K each plus prize money and bonuses like winning Seagames, etc...if they do resign, they need US$ 100K each which they will get it from Yonex...
