Actually the side support bases protrude quite far into the frame, so much so that I can only clamp the outermost main at about the halfway point; I get no clearance issues apart from this. That's true. The reason why I was looking for a badminton specific clamp in the first place was the intention to get better clearance at the sides. Though I do not doubt your recommendations that this clamp is better than the badminton specific one, it doesn't really help in what I'm looking for? It's about the same size and shape as my current one and I'm supposing the side supports will stop it from getting close to the frame anyway (My outermost main can only be clamped midway, my second outermost can be clamped maybe just a little nearer).

Care to expand why these clamps are so fantastic?

Maybe I should just wait for your custom made side supports :P

I suppose you're right - they're pretty much the same size with respect to "depth". I went for them over the badminton specific and tennis specific clamps is that I didn't have to keep swapping out (and I sold the badminton and tennis clamps for MORE than I paid for the universals

).

If you're looking for something ultra thin, see if you can find these - any thinner and the Heisenburg Uncertainty Principle would prevent them from being photographed...

I have emailed the machinists and asked if they can do three sets of prototypes, one of which I will test myself; the others I intend to send to Dink. I'll let you know what their reply is.

I designed the supports to fit the standard Eagnas Combo/Pro's Pro et al fitment which, IME, is by far the most common.

Here are my new custom side supports :

The idea was to weld a nut on a bolt

after welding, sawin and filing :

Ready to paint (the one on the right is another try with the nut directly welded on the head of th bolt):

after spray painting :

And after gluing pads, the first try :

I've no racquet to strung so I have to wait for a real test...

and the clearance in the final product looks very good.

i think it may look better with a rod instead of the bolt. and the threads inside the nut might be sharp when tension (even though i think you have attempted to grind them out)

Initially i wanted to use a threaded rod but I am a bit lazy and i don't want to saw the rod so that's why I used bolts.

I 've grinded all the sharp edges. I'll see during the next stringing job if it's enough...
