    The use and abuse of BadmintonCentral

    This thread to discuss why we are here at BadmintonCentral.
    We all have different reasons why we are here at BadmintonCentral. :):):)

    Sometimes our negative comments can bring out positive concepts/thoughts from our BCers. And sometimes, our positive comments can bring out negative concepts/thoughts as well.

    Some BCers think of contributing to our forum, for example, giving us;
    * Links where we can get more info
    * News about Badminton players/tournaments
    * Reports/Results from tournaments
    * Info on Laws of Badminton
    * Info on how to improve our games
    * Places where to play Badminton
    * Reviews on equipment
    etc, ......

    Some BCers think of using our forum to find info that has not been provided.
    Some BCers question how/where our beloved Badminton is heading.
    Some BCers are here for friendly chit-chats.

    In all of the above, BC is providing us with a wonderful site to be involved in. :):):)

    Unfortunately, some BCers think differently. They have very different opinions. They get into personal attacks towards other BCers. Here are some examples;
    * My idol player is better than yours
    * Your National Association is hopeless
    * My argument/opinion has more substance than yours
    * Don't read/reply my post if you don't agree with me
    * Your English in your posts is of low standard
    * If you don't understand what I'm saying, there must be something wrong with you
    etc, ......

    Seriously, we don't need have personal attacks towards other BCers just because we have different opinions/ideas.

    Peace :):):)

    Agree with everything you said. Add belittling professional players into you examples will make the list looks much more complete. Some BCers think that they know what competitive badminton is and make fun of certain players when those players did not perform to what they expected. IMHO, this sort of "elitist attitude" certainly does not make one comfortable, nor do I think that spreading the propaganda that "players from xxx-country suck and they should quit for good" is a healthy practice. The best part is those armchair critics are not even involve or contribute to competitive badminton(not coach, players, sport psychiatrist etc...) in anyway and they think that they are qualified to give their comments. Sometimes those ridiculous claims and comments really make you laugh.

    Do they not know that professional players/coaches do read BadmintonCentral?

    .
    Agree.

    Why do some BCers post here to attack professional players/coaches? It's incomprehensible.

    Do they also not know that professional players/coaches do read our posts/threads at BadmintonCentral? Belittling professional players/coaches here at BC is a BIG NO, NO. :mad:

    think before we write

    ha..ha.. human nature..just human nature. think this happen to every sports. some write as they speak in their mind and some do the same but the mind isn't thinking, some with 'little room' in their mind.. and that's what we get in here!

    really we can't blame them as god didn't create us all equal. but if they read stuff in this forum maybe he or she will understand and learn to give and earn respect.:D

    Please don't use BadmintonCentral as a vehicle to attack people

    .
    The aim of this thread is to say:
    Please don't use BadmintonCentral as a vehicle to attack other BCers who are fans of different players. And also, don't belittle players, coaches and countries/national associations.

    Many guests (fans, players, coaches, officials, etc...) do read our BC forums.

    Just remember... those that can - DO, those that can't - CRITIQUE.

    That's the way of life and quite frankly we all do it to some extent.

    I have to agree that some of the "discussions" become a little to heated. Nothing wrong with that as long as they remain civil. As soon as you resort to personal attacks you've pretty much stated that you have no further logical arguments to make.

    Sorry, don't have enough time to moderate though. :eek::eek::eek:
    By the way, discussions have been made previously. Read Post #99 onwards; in this thread .

    "IMHO, an 'Insensible Posting' is a post intended to attack another member personally, instead of talking about the issue......"

    Still believing that if we can avoid using "I" or "you" in our posts, we can remove any element of a personal attack/conflict. It can help us to remain on-topic. ;););)

    BC is not like some 'Private Members Only Websites'

    .
    Only if we BCers can give constructive comments though. Otherwise, they won't read us anymore.

    Quite often we tend to forget that BC is a public forum.

    We tend to assume that we are in a little world of our own, like some 'Private-Members-Log-In-Only Websites'.

    How do admin/moderators treat this type of posters?

    .
    Seriously drifit, Very often we read a post bashing some equipments/BC members/professional players/coaches, etc... , but at the end of the post, saying "Just Joking Only".

    How do admin/moderators treat this type of posters?

    kind of good question.
    if that particular member keep on bashing other members, we shall lock him/her for few days.
    we are trying very hard to be fair to every one. we do wish and hope the old timers in BC lead the new members the correct way. ;)

    Agree :D. How about madbad, since you have ambulance service? Anybody heart attack, high blood pressure, can provide emergency service :p

    LOL, chris, this has been going on for years, I dont reckon they will ever stop.-> unless one fine day any of the associations/player/coach/official sue BC for slander.

    Also add "Just because you know player/coach/player's parents/official doesnt mean you know anything abt baddy, I know better" :p(which is one reason why those who have insider info seldom post such info anymore)
