. Let's talk about Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong going for quality instead of quantity in 2010 In 2009, Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong took part in a total of 14 international tournaments. They participated in 10 of the 12 Super Series. This year, they will cut down their participation in Super Series tournaments. They will probably be looking at not more than 8 Super Series tournaments. They will focus on the preparations for the more important meets; * Thomas Cup Finals in Kuala Lumpur in May * World Championships in Paris in August * Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in October * Asian Games in Guangzhou in December For additional info and source: http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2010/1/4/sports/5406535&sec=sports .
the last post of this thread http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40153&page=21 hmm is there any need to open a new thread to discus a decision?
Is there any need to open a new thread to discus a decision? . Yes, to me this is a BIG change in decision making by BAM and by their coach(es). Would like to monitor their 2010 results from now on; from this new plan of action. . .
well when all player/asociation only aim for win and achievement thats a lost to a badminton lover like me to see highest level badminton competition in every ss
KKK-TBH will participate in fewer SS tournaments . Sorry to find that KKK-TBH will participate in fewer SS tournaments this year, 2010. On the other hand, it's better for other pairs. It would allow them easier to advance onto the MD SS Finals. .
Me agree. No need to start new thread unless KKK/TBH split or quit, then only big news. Participating less in 2010 is expected lah, with TC, COmmonwealth, AG some more.
To monitor how KKK/TBH will manage in their performance from now onwards . To you BCers it might not be BIG news. But, to me, it is. BAM has always wanted for KKK/TBH to enter in as many SS tournaments in the past (and to win as many SS tournaments as possible). Now, all the sudden, BAM has revised plans for them. This thread is to monitor how KKK/TBH will manage their performances from now onwards. .
My friend, it's not all of a sudden, it's been highlighted in the media since Nov 2009. Started since mid 2009, the decision makers(includes NSC, Sports Minister) have been making noise that the players should be selective, concentrate on major events lah,etc . Reduce from 10 SS to 8 SS not that much difference.
Maybe the will reduce it to even less than 8 ss events.. I cannot see why they would need to do that though..14 doubles tournaments / year (a little more than one a month) should not be a problem for a fit MD pair.. heck.. Lee Young dae playes both mixed and doubles in most tournaments, for example (and doing quite well ) /T
Yes, I agree with this one..... ( the bold above) But lets see how they perform after reduced the quantity and go for the quality........I will love to see they perform better than 2009 after this decision.
KKK/TBH, Coaches and BAM are aiming for quality now, quality mean wins atleast a major, reduce loses to lower rank pairs, more winners over top 3 pairs, or wins more SS titles........??
Its good to hear this, 'to monitor their performances....from now onwards', at least this is more positive way in doing things....! How to monitor ? We knew we are not allowed to..... 1. compare KKK to LYD........because only has 1 LYD in this world. 2. expect them to win in tournaments...over those top 3 pairs 3. dream them to win big.... 4. critic them when they keep losing to lower rank pairs and pair having health problems... 5. reject their excuses when they lost..... 6. critic them without comparing their achievements with the fuzzy pair..... I am looking forwards to see how they perform from now onwards.....
IMHO, it's always better to go for quality, than for quantity . So, this 14% budget cut has affected many MAS players, including LCW's tournament participation program. Perhaps, this could be a good thing for MAS players. IMHO, it's always better to go for quality, than for quantity. Why participate in so many tournament and get so exhausted tournaments after tournaments? Why not play less and do better at grander tournaments, like the Thomas Cup, World Championships, All-England, etc? .
Probably BAM is following CHN"s strategy . As just posted above, IMHO, it's always better to go for quality, than for quantity. All MAS players should now be fresher when participating. Probably BAM is following CHN's strategy. But whether or not it will work; it's another story. Let's see what better results they can achieve this year. .
Not 13% meh ? Maybe some of the cut going to the RM50 million that football is getting. Oh yeah, chris@cc, must be clarified that the cut is the allocation from NSC to all sports, not cut from sponsor. BAM's funding is both from NSC & sponsors. Must cut a bit here & there, if not how to pay Tan Kim Her's salary...hehe KKK also play XD & he's 3 years older than LYD. Korea players, same age/ slightly younger/older than LYD also nowhere near that level of results if they play MD &XD. They just reduce the 2 SS after Commonwealth & bf Asia Games, add up in the end the total will be about the same with 2009. I'm sure the other pairs involved in AG 2010 will also skip the Europe edition. Plus, it gives a chance for the back up MD to go SS. Budget constraint, few slots available to go. Jason, I think Fu/Cai will participate in even less tourney leh. And also I would prefer to be seeing CPS/LKW or Mak/TWK in SS instead of every time KKK/TBH, Fuzzy's face only. Fuzzy pair this yr danger, they must fight for place with the back-up MD.
