    Default Sore Feet and Ankles

I usually play for three hours 3 to 4X a week in the evenings and when I wake up in the morning, my feet and ankles (right ankle more severe) hurts that I have a hard time making my way to the bathroom. It usually takes a while to warm out of it and the pain is not that severe , but it is bothersome. I am just concerned that it might worsen. Do any of you experience this? Do you usually wear ankle supports when you play? Will high cut shoes help?

maybe you should see a doctor. :-) do you have flat feet? maybe you have plantar fasciitis. I used to suffer from aching feet in the morning too but ever since I started using foot arch supports (Tuli's GAITors foot arch supports from Quantum Medical Care Products. tel# 551-6661 look for Aimee. PhP1,650) I've been ok.

I still think you should see a doctor. :-)

do you warm up properly? does your shoes have proper support? I use to have the same problems too but I now wear an ankle support and got new shoes that offers more ankle support and I haven't got much problems after that. Stretch after you play as well as before you play can help too. good luck.

Yes, I agree with Mike. I don't used to have problems but nowadays, since last year, I've got very sore feet, especially the left one after I've played badminton or a full round of golf. You should see a doctor or foot specialist and see what they have to say.

As for what I'm going to do about it? I'm going to see a foot specialist and hopefully, receive a good advise from her.

Thanks MikeJ. Btw, I don't have flat feet and I used to be in the track team where flat feet won't get you anywhere so that is not the problem. I wear Yonex badminton shoes that don't offer much support in the ankle and heel area, so I'v been thinking of changing to mid or hi cuts, only if there exists such a thing for badminton. I am allergic to doctors, though, that is why I posted this thread (hahaha!), hoping to delay the inevitable.

Yonex has a high cut shoes, modeled SHB-95 mid which I am thinking of getting a pair for myself. It is not availble here in Canada unless I get it from a supplier that carries it.
