Hi guys, I just watched a badminton match played by my favourite pair Lee Yong Dae and Jung Jae Sung. Two times now, I've seen them throw the racquet that they won with into the crowd. I want to know what you guys would have done if you caught the racquet of your favourite player/players? Would you use it? Would you keep it and never use it? Would you show it off to your friends? OF COURSE! =P

i believe they used first gen ti10 in both of their finals, and if they threw it in my hand i would frame it and keep it in my room for eternity although it wouldnt worth as much as the one Lin Dan threw into the crowd =P

I'd try to get them to sign them if possible then either keep it or sell it.

but there will be concerns regarding the authenticity of the item, which will be purely based on "your words against mine", as there are no certificates or evidence of ownership (by the pro players).

but then again, there will be hardcore fans who will not hesitate to pay an arm for such memorabilia, purely based on hearsay?

i know of a certain individual who will jump off a cliff to get his hands on a pair of lin dan's shorts. :D

The racket would have already been broken before I get it. I saw people swarm and fight over the racket the players threw. There's no way a racket would have survived in one piece after how the spectators fought over it.

How about a shirt? Would you still catch it with all the sweat and smell? Hahaha.

    Usually..

i know there are scammers on eBay..but these will be used as proofs:
    - Pictures of the racket (along with all the serial numbers etc.)
    - For a pro player who uses a Yonex racket, there would be a special code assigned to his/her racket (IP code).
If it's a different brand, then i'd say good luck in proving it.
..i know a few (from reading this forum) who would catch it, all soaked in sweat and smell; maybe don't even wash it at all. Yes, what's even more interesting is even guys request female players' shirts/jerseys. And this does not only apply for badminton, but even for other sports. In rare cases, they'll even wear it, right there and then on the spot or soon after...

True enough, I know a few who are attracted to the smell of a person's sweat.

I have a mixed doubles partner who smells nice.

As for the racket, if ever I catch one, I'd definitely brag about it. :D

oh dear...... i hope her BF/husband does not read this......... unless, of course, you are the BF/husband. :D

as for the racket(s) caught, i will probably hold an impromptu auction. selling the racket to those who witnessed the event and willing to pay for it!!! :D
