I don't really know how high it should be without being too high (ie being smashable). Should it be as low as the doubles low serve, or is there a little slack allowed? If there is another post with this information, please direct me there. Thanks in Advance!
You've almost answered your own question. The serve is so important, why would you want to give away any tactical advantage by not trying to serve as well as possible? Your serve must remain tight to the net and be landing close or on the front service line. This way, your opponent is receiving a shuttle below net height which is dipping quickly. It's the only way you gain any tactical advantage. Hope this helps. To your success in 2010 Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
It should skim the net and should start to drop once it hits if not slightly before it reaches the net so the opponent cant hit it down!!
