Accounting for all costs will need to be taken into considerations.

    Just wondering;
    1. What rate of pay are those coaches/assistants getting?
    2. What costs are incurred for having the hall?
    3. What advertising expenses have been spent?
    etc......

Perhaps, there is no government funding for this project.

IMHO, money isn't everything. Just look at China; their association was showing no interest in the SS Masters Finals since this event was introduced - China is not interested in the event with the biggest prize monies.

Arrow CBA and/or PBSI are funded by government/tax-payers

    .
Don't say things should be cheaper.

CBA and/or PBSI are funded by government/tax-payers. But TH has to operate his finances by himself.

Talking about coaching, I am a full-time professional coach. But I am a poor struggling coach. Only wish I can be as famous as TH to set my fees as high as his trainees are to be paying.

Taufik Hidayat plans to discover new badminton talent

JAKARTA, Feb 15 — Maverick shuttler Taufik Hidayat has again chosen to go it alone by opting to help fund a new badminton arena in Jakarta after his disillusion at how the sport is run in Indonesia.

Former world and Olympic champion, Hidayat, 28, controversially defected from the Indonesian national team in early 2009 and he plans to use his profile to help find the next generation of talent.

“Sports in Indonesia aren1t being supported by the government,” Hidayat told Reuters. “The rewards you get as a young player don1t match the effort you put in.”

“I want to be different from other athletes, if not better, and I want to make something good out of my profile and help the younger players have opportunities.”

Hidayat said his own private funds would help to pay for the running costs of the eight-court Taufik Hidayat Arena, with building due to start in March.

“Rejuvenation of younger players should be the job of the Indonesian Badminton Association,” he said. “But local competitions will help identify new talent. I want to use the arena to hold local competitions.”

“It is 6,600 metres squared and each metre squared costs 1.5 million rupiah (RM547), so you could just imagine the cost.”

With the majority of tournaments not being broadcast on free-to-air television in Indonesia, finding sponsorship has been difficult for local players which is why Hidayat has felt the need to step in and help.

“The Indonesian brands aren1t interested in sports people, only movie stars, because they can get more exposure in the media,” he said.

Hidayat, who has no immediate plans for retirement, said he does not regret his split with the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI).

“As with any association, there will always be rows, and you can find people in PBSI that aren1t in tune with my vision. I achieved so many things for PBSI, and I felt burdened by expectations.” — Reuters

    Exclamation count me in!

ya, count me in as one of those interested in how taufik plans to make money from it.

the way i look at it, $$ will come from futsal and the high coaching rate. limiting the number of players he can command higher fees and training side by side with the elite team (including himself)...

'whoosh if you don't have deeep pockets please make sure your kid has all the talents and enough of them to catch taufik's attention' (just my advise to parents..)

What do you think of those deep pocketed parents who's not ready to shell out their hard earned money but with a very talented kid in hand? No money no talk?

I tend to think Taufik has a program for that too, right?

i was looking from a business point of view

that is, the inflow to balance the outflow

but if there is a monthly contribution from sponsors

    things would be different

also i think taufik has a dream to look for talented player

and he should know what to do

IMHO, Taufik Hidayat is rich enough already.

So, this venture of his to to promote Badminton in Indonesia, not to make money from it.

    promoting badminton yes

but i don't think he is going to manage it on a break-even basis

because to break even in the operation with that number of courts and futsal pitch

either the rate has to be high or some subsidies from sponsors if the rate is not

bear in mind main line is coaching and there has to be sinking fund for them to participate in competitions later

lets see the rates and the sponsors advertisement later and we can make a better assumption

Arrow Badzine had an interview with Taufik Hidayat about his Badminton school

    .
    Also, Badzine had an interview with Taufik Hidayat, asking him about his Badminton school;

Badzine: What’s your expectation of TH arena?
Taufik: I hope to boost the players' regeneration by creating more talented players. Of course we won't be able to see the result in a short time. This will take some time - approximately five or ten years - to witness the emergence of new stars.
