I'm deciding between mavis 350 or 2000 nylon to save money. What has better durability and is closer to feathers? Difference is $1 but some say 2000 is not really good.

u should play mavis for badminton fun rather than to get a feather like feel coz u won't get it. See what ur fren use and buy the other kind so u can try both:)

I mean mavis 350 vs mavis 2000. I know that the feathers last much shorter.
Unfortunately, everyone that I see uses feathers so can't try it haha

Take it from me, if you want to play real badminton forget about Mavis this is plastics that. There are some quite playable feathers with decent durabilty of about 3 to 4 games per shuttle, that are not too expensive.
Beware of the danger of getting into, and then getting stuck with, plastics because then you would have developed all the wrong habits that preclude you from playing the game as it should be played.
Also the top grade feathers may be good enough for 1 hour/shuttle of top level play and another 1 hour of acceptable play thereafter.

ive actually just bought a tube of 2000s to keep in the bag for when my feathers all break. they fly ok, but net play is definately different to the feather. for just clearing, and knocking up its ok.

I've tried one tube of Mavis 2000. When we use plastic we usually use the 300. The 2000 is significantly more durable than the 300 in terms of the cork and the "feathers". The cork doesn't disintegrate as fast and the plastic skirt doesn't crack as easy.

Both play differently but both are still quite far away from real feathers.

If economy is the reason, you should just buy the cheapest of the two or even go 300 or a less known brand if that is less costly... If you care about flight-path and feel, neither isn't really "good enough" compared to goose-feaher shuttles anyway.

I see you are totally converted to Badminton. I am getting back to road cycling after more than 10 years of absence. Ok, my regular bike commuting doesn't count.

Mavis 2000 is any time better than mavis 350/300. We play quite often with mavis 2000 only.

I'm not sure if I've ever tried 370's. Whats the difference between 300, 350 and 370 btw?

    Maybe something different!

The new plastics from Winex might be the answer:confused:
I will try them on Friday 7/5 2010 and post the results on my website.

An alternative to the Mavises is a Carlton (much cheaper too);). Tangerine color zings like no other:). That is, if you must play plastics rather than feathers;).

Plus, Carlton plastic shuttles have been in business forever:cool:.
