Yeah, she was so happy just now when she upset the 1st seed, wang yi han of china. Her gameplan today was simply superb. She leads most of the time in the 3rd set. ;)

BYJ is left-handed little girl while BSH is a bit senior with stronger strokes.

The Final is against Wang Xin who has been defeated by BSH in the last KOR Open.

It's an early sign that KOR will be main threat for China team in Uber Cup, upcoming May.

As Gillian said, I can't understand why the refree didn't call a medical doctor for BSH when she asked for it early in the game. If appropriately treated in the early stage, she could manage the rubber game to the end without retiring.

^^Thank you for the additional info on what transpired..^^

..looks like BYJ never asked for a doctor or any kind of medical assistance to treat her injury. Even the coach told her to play on.
I guess it was up to the tournament referee to decide whether to provide medical assistance/doctor or not.
My guess is, she suffered the injury but thought she could shake it off. But turned out it was really bothering her until she couldn't even do any lunges. Quite a strange situation indeed.

    Taken from the article:
"I said 'no' because she did not tell me what was wrong," said Chua. "She did not ask for the doctor and did not fall to the floor or seem to be in great pain. The coach came over and I explained that she couldn't do the strapping and he told her to play on."

*Hope you enjoyed your M'sia trip, Mr. Hearn. Will you come to the T&UC in May as well?

Assistant Referee Chua Soo Hock explained that the first time Bae stopped playing, she asked to spray her ankle, but that the second time, she asked to wrap it but this request was denied. "I said 'no' because she did not tell me what was wrong," said Chua. "She did not ask for the doctor and did not fall to the floor or seem to be in great pain.

    ---------------------

This is nonsense. She did spray on her ankle at first break. And she asked for the supporting. Why??? What more did she have to explain about that? It's quite natural to notice that it was from any difficulty on her foot.

Everyone knew - Gillian Clark also mentioned about it from the first time. Why did she stop then if it's not from any problem on her foot? (It was revealed that it was never from any time-delay tactics. She's just 19 yrs old, not that smart to act like other seniors.) No need to explain - it was quite natural. The umpire/referee should have put more care in active and kind manner even though it was not well articulated due to any language problem.

maybe to get referee's attention, she should fall on the floor and start stripping shoes, socks, and even cloths off lol.

Right. I also though she was not that smart to act like that. Some over-action was needed.

But the umpire/referee could have got more care for the youngster.

    In sum,

    - BYJ should have retired as soon as she knew it was not that little injury for her future.

    - It's good for Wang Xin to get her first SS title after all the years in the senior stage.

But is she having an ankle problem or a chest problem? Because we also saw her holding her chest like having difficulty breathing.

She definitely won my heart with the way she played and composed herself even in pain.
The Chinese feels threatened. I hope she will recover well from the ankle injury. Good thing it is not a bad one.
