    Default Carlton Prototype

    Hello guys,

Anyone heard something about a new Carlton coming out soon?
A few days ago i saw a completly new type of racket.
It was a Carlton and on the shaft it says Prototype V1.0

The weirdest thing was that some of the crossstrings didnt go through a tubing but on the outside of the frame.
I drew al little sketch because i wasnt aloud to take pictures.

Wouldn't the string eat into the graphite if it's strung at high tensions??
Unless the head is made from stronger materials...

It could very well have a long grommet where it touches the frame.

Freaky idea. Trying to think of what the benefits would be. The frame would certainly be very strong with no holes in it to make it weaker, and assuming there are grooves to hold the strings, because they run at an angle they wouldn't weaken the racket at all.

    I dont think so.
There are also a lot of Babolats without tubings in the top.
BTW the string that go around the frame are located at 3 and 9 o'clock on the frame.

No long grommet/tubing. Just a groove.

Just remember, if it's not part of the Terms and Conditions of entry to the stadium, and you haven't signed an NDS, you can take as many photos as you like.

There is no grommet on the Prototype 1.0 at 3 and 9 o'clock and it allows for a much higher string tension. The racket feels completely different to hit and is a huge step forward in racket technology. Watch this space for some sneak previews/photos soon......

Can't say higher string tension is something that I look for in a racket.

By doing that, wouldn't your strings (crosses) be at different level because one goes above the frame, the following one, below the frame? As a result, it seems to me that you would have a reduced sweet spot because the crosses wouldn't be really touching the mains except the middle part. I might not be explaining myself very well. Hope the drawing helps.

you forget that there're 20-22 mains strings that immediately press the strings down into their place.

You can see how it turns out here:

The concept is different, but you can see the mains put the crosses back in the center after a quarter of an inch.

i have a feeling this is going to be another one of those quirky technology things that won't last long beyond its first 15 mins of fame.

End result will be something similar to the Bedini rackets.
