I just purchase a few tubes of Chao Pai special red feather shuttles but find the speed to be a bit fast. Speed rating of 77. How do you slow these down a bit? I steamed them 48 hours before use too.

you tip the edges of the feathers, either every 4, every 2 or every one. You do this by bending the very tips outwards a little bit.

bend(tip) the end of the feather about 3 to 5 mil to the outside at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock. Then test it, if it's still too fast bend the same at 1:30,4:30, 7:30 and 10:30. if they are still too fast see your scrap metal merchant because they are full of lead. hope this helps;);););)

Tried bending 4 tips and it's a lot better now. Altitude is just too high here to use 77 speed shuttles. Need 75 which is harder to find unless I buy locally, but they only stock YY and Victor shuttles. The decent ones cost too much.

Go to my website and look at the video. I explain all you need to know and there's also a video about testing the shuttle.
