    Hi

I am a Badminton enthusiast who pefers to play the Singles game. Its the closest thing to physical chess! My level is intermediate and I am currently attending formal training every Tuesday to improve gameplay.

Right now, I am playing with a group (doubles game) at Clementi Sportshall every Thursdays evening but am looking to stop cos it is too far as I reside in Sengkang. In the past, I have travelled as far as Jurong West to satisfy my cravings but with commitments, I have to stop. Travelling time (to and fro) is simply too much.

I am looking for groups that play singles games (I know its quite rare) on every Thursdays evenings or Saturdays mornings. Locationwise, I prefer to stick to the Northeast line though Tampines sportshall is also fine.

If there is not no groups, I welcome those who wish to play - I could get a court for an hour or two on the said days (know a friend who specialise in sportshall bookings).

You can either email me (gohyupang@gmail.com) or reply to this thread-promise to check every day. :)

    Regards,

Hi Weiliang93, Afterdark. jcyrhs & Andylcw,

Great to see replies in such a short time. I am looking at 6 players max for a 2 hour games and I already have them (including you guys!). What I do is once I get court confirmation, I will update this thread at least 2 weeks in advance. That way, everyone gets ample notice.

    So stay tuned.

    Regards,

    Hi jcyrhs,

    Singles definitely.

Come to think of it 6 players might to much. 4 have wait and watch 2 battling it out. You have a pointm jcyrhs.

Well, I put it this way. Ideally, I keep it at 4 persons with an option of 5 being the most. 21 points system ought to be fine as the old 15 points system takes ages to complete. Alternatively, we could do what I do in training. My coach usually gave us the last half hour to spar. We could justy about squeeze 4 single games of 11 points during that last half an hour.

Haha. Anyway..all this is moot. I must secured the court first. Thanks for bringing it up.

Hi Hi..now making my way back from Clementi session. Hopefully my last. Just got beaten by a left hander in singles (old fashion points system). Hitting to his left which would normally be a backhand reply for a righthander meant smashes down the line for the left hander. Lost most points there. I hope one of you is a left hander!

As for the court, I have entrust my friend to book on the last Thursday of the month, and thereafter every Thursday onwards. Will give you guys confirmation next Thursday. Okay then, Happy Chinese New Year To you Fellas. Remember to ease up on the BBQ pork, no..eat more so I get some advantage. Gong Xi Fa Cai! :)

    Hi Weiliang,

I apologised. I chose Thursdays evenings over Saturday mornings as it accomodates hanging out late on Friday nights. So sorry.

Algoh, which court were you playing at ?

I played on Thursday at Clementi sports hall also. Don't like that place, always got draft and it affects my shot.

    Hi teoky,

I played on the last row of the courts, furthest away from the entrance. Wore a bright orange shirt with the words, FLYMAX. Where were you?

You are right, Clementi SH is not well suited as the draft is there. Night time is okay but wait till you play in the afternoon, its a badminton nightmare as the shuttlecock fly all over the place. Jurong West Stadium is another good place with the floor being quite new despite the irriating sliding doors (avoid courts that are near them!). Delta @ redhill is great place to play but it has limited courts and its old. Its really a sauna in there. You sweat non-stop!

Okay. got to go. Nice knowing you :p always to good to meet more badminton enthusiats.

    Regards,

Yes, Clementi is not ideal cos of its draft. Nighttime play is okay but wait till you play in the afternoon - unplayable. Nice knowing you, always good to know more badminton enthusiats. Keep in touch, who knows we might have a chance to play together.

    Hi

I have news. I could not secure 2 hour slot on 25 Feb, Thur evening. I was offered 1 hr slot though and I took it. As it stands, I have the following:
    - 18 Feb 2010 (Thur) -1 hr slot (9pm - 10pm), Sengkang Sportshall
    - 25 Feb 2010 (Thur) -1 hr slot (9pm - 10pm), Sengkang Sportshall

Thus, I can only ask if any one, just one, is interested in single sparring for an hour (which should worked up enough sweat). All costs will be borne by me as I am looking to improve my singles game. One more thing, I need to corrected myself, as pointed out by a friend who is also on the forum, my skills should be high beginner and not intermediate.

I apologised and will continue to ask my friend to try for 2hr slots on every Thursday evenings. Happy CNY to all of you.

    Thanks and regards,

hey, maybe you might want to consider asking your friend to try somewhere else besides SKSH, it's rather windy there.
