Hi all, my 1st post. Nid help here. Im intend 2 buy a racket 4 my dad(53 years old), but i dunno wat 2 choose, hope u guys k giv me some idea.

    1. My dad play 3 days a week, so i consider he is a serious player.
    2. My dad play doubles, usually stay in front the net, so i think he is a skill player rather than aggressive smasher.
    3. My budget is around rm300(Malaysia), US $86++

He is currently using cheap racket so i intend buy him sumthing better. Thank u whoever reply this thread, thank u in advance.

In that price range I'd suggest either the Zelm PP10000 or the Apacs Tantrum 200.

Top up some $, u can get a BS 09. New model BS 10 and BS 11 is selling RM430 in JB, so i suppose BS 09 is around RM350, not too sure.

Else just choose from Apacs own series rackets. I can hardly see Zelm racket in JB.

i think he shouldnt get his dad stiff rackets... he might appreciate an easier racket but still have lots of control...

bs09 is a very good suggestion... or low/mid range armortec/muscle power might be good too...

t200, bs10/11, pp10000 might be too stiff for his dad... just my thoughts...

Thanks u druss and PapA xIonG for fast reply, i hav seen all the review n these rackets seem nice. I hav been thinking of BS 09, we hav been discussing Yong Dae alot wif my dad.

I would like 2 ask, my dad is middle-age ady, n might suffer a bit from strength, so do these rackets still suitable?

I consider my dad as "cunning" player :p, usually looking for opponent soft-spot n unguarded space, defend from smashes a lot. From the review, BS 09 is a more attacking++ de racket rite? Correct me if Im wrong, so it this racket still suitable?

N is there other suggestion from famous brand like Yonex, Carlton, Li Ning, Victor n etc?

    Thank u very much

I find the T200 as a very good all round racket, not too stiff but not too flexible. Honestly, for your budget you're better off with Apacs or other brand. The big names charge more for their rackets because of the marketing they have to pay for, not to mention the cost of sponsoring those national teams.

U r right druss, my budget is too tight to get famous racket, i was hoping to get lin dan's racket initially, but when i went to the shop, OMG... i never thought a racket could be so expensive, 3x my budget. I will keep a eye on APACS on my nex visit

Panda Power's Trinity 2 would suit your dad very well.
Not too stiff- perfect for wrist shots.
    Balanced for fast doubles play.
Unusually powerful and light in hand. Very easy to generate power and very mobile.

However, demand has exceeded supply, so will have to wait for next shipment expected in 1-2 months.

Panda T2 should be a good choice. I saw some reviews mentioned that T1 and T2 are close to Ti10 3rd gen. The problem is i never see Panda racket in malaysia.

Panda Power has a local distributor in Malaysia. See if you can arrange to meet him to demo. You will not be disappointed for your troubles.

Sorry, can't suggest any YY rackets, as the good ones are easily close to double the price of your imposed $ limit.

Maybe u can search for Victor BS 168 or 169. It inherit the diamond shaped frame of BS racket and it is mid-high end of BS series, so it is selling cheaper. I personally nvr use this racket before, so u better search for more reviews in BC forum.

If ur dad is a skill player and play near the front net, i believe he likes to "guide" the shuttle to any empty spot of opponent court. So i suggest dun choose too flexible racket, altho flex racket is easier for defensive shot but sometimes it will "mis-guide" the shuttle due to the flex shaft.

    Just my 2 cens. :p:D

Sorry but lots of other questions first!
What racket does your dad use? Perhaps brand, model? What does it weigh, is it head heavy, even balance or head light? what is the tension of his strings? does he restring every year? does he like playing with his racket?
What does he think is good about his play with the racket and what is he missing with the racket [too heavy can't defend, or too stiff can't hit to baseline]

Thanks visor for the e-mail link. I wil email him ask abt his location.

mifold30, ya my dad is 53 years old, so the shopkeeper doesnt recommend to buy tantrum 200, too stiff. But i wil certainly check de carbonex 20, thanks for your suggestion.

Papa XIong, Thanks again 4 suggestion. I hav check BS 168 n BS 169. BS 168 is a medium stiff the racket whereas BS 169 is medium flexible racket. n Papa Xiong, so u think dat my dad will prefer a medium to medium stiff de racket rite? Correct me if im wrong.

phshuttler, my dad now is using cheap racket, <rm100 which is around 20 pound i guess. So I cant tel u exactly de details. All I k say the racket he use is flexible.

If your dad is only 53 and plays 3x per week and you consider him a serious attacking player, then he doesn't have to settle for flexible rackets. The Tantrum 200 would be fine, as would Cab 20... they're both only Stiff+ according to Dinkalot's racket review matrix. Trinity 2 and ArcSaber 7 would be slightly less stiff, but don't go for any more flexible than that. But more importantly go for a balanced racket for faster mobility in doubles play, especially if he likes playing up front.
