The Olympic torch has finally reached Metro Vancouver and will be doing the rounds in local communities. This afternoon it will be in Richmond, home of the Speed Skating Oval. It will culminate in the o-zone at Minoru with Rick Hansen carrying the torch.

As I know there are many Richmonders here in BC (no pun intended ;):D), those planning to watch/attend should take some pics and relate their experience here. Yes, I will be at the o-zone later to take in the festivities.

Those who have already had a chance to see any part of the torch relay should also post their pics and opinions.

I for one am excited about the Olympics and will attend a few events. I'm sure many of my fellow Canadians are really looking forward to it.

    Only 3 days to go...

    GO CANADA GO!

I think it's going to be a blast. My company headquarters are actually in Richmond and have bought multiple tickets for both company employees and our customers.

Too bad there isn't enough natural snow though, really bad luck it's such a warm winter this year.

It's going to be interesting with the warm weather because I will be going to Cypress Mtn (the main victim of our unseasonal winter) to watch snowboarding. Gonna catch curling, hockey and hopefully more.

I work for a company called Layfield, located on silversmith just off 99 before the tunnel (going south).

Not sure if I can make it yet, have to see if I'm one of the lucky few to win the raffle for tickets. If I do go I'll definitely make a trip of it to see friends and family as I lived there for 8 years, graduated high school and did 1st engineering at UBC. My rackets would be coming with me of course.

Dude, when you consider a sport for the WINTER Olympics, think ice and snow, not whether it's played in the winter in Canada.

Have you come across the official pictures of all the competing athletes?
Wow, the mugshots are just like passport photos where you can't smile. Some are mildly funny and some look like "America's Most Wanted" photos.:D

    Here's two examples:
Andrew "Where have the 1970's gone?" Newell, USA; Xcountry skiing
David "Mad Dog" Poisson, France; alpine skiing
Best of luck to them both.:)

Some pics I took at the Richmond o-zone on Tues night. Note it was at night and there were over 15,000 people jostling for position
