I have read the patella band is good for jumper's knee. But even for someone who does not have symptoms, is it advisible to wear it for prevention, because badminton involves a lot of jumping and abrupt directional changes? Thanks in advance.
I'm not sure that you will derive benefit by wearing such a band if you don't have the problem. The best prevention is to have good form, and keep your muscles well toned and stretch carefully and thoroughly. Braces, straps and orthotics can potentially cause trouble if not fit correctly for the right problem. So why chance it messing with something that ain't broke? (BTW a patellar strap will not protect you from "abrupt directional changes")
Never EVER use supporting remedies in advance. It just weakens your tendons in the long run as they get used to the support.
