Cradling?

Cradling just seems like a not only interesting, but a useful skill in badminton games. I can cradle from the air quite easily, but I still have trouble flicking it from the ground. Any tips, videos, secrets you'd like to share?

Im not quite sure what you mean, am from the UK and cradling is what you would do to hold a baby but not sure what it means badminton wise??

perhaps picking up the bird directly using racket? im not sure either

"Cradling" is catching the bird with your racket in the air.

i think he means that he is having trouble trying to scoop the bird when its on the ground
and the only advice i can give is to just keep on practicing and eventaully you should get it

I think he means like catching the shuttlecock in the air with the racquet? As in flicking it, if you want to flick the shuttle with a racquet, use a quick flick of your wrist and hit the feather part of the shuttle in the opposite direction of which the shuttle is facing.

I thought he was explaining that he could catch the shuttle with his racket. Like when your opponent hits the shuttle to you and you catch it with your racket instead of your hand. Then I thought he was making a comparison between the two and saying that it's still difficult for him to pick up the shuttle from the floor.

I think we're just all confused...haha.

I'm sorry, I guess I wasn't clear enough. I always thought cradling in badminton (yes, we cradle babies, too) was either from the air, and lifting it off the ground, the latter I'm seeking advice on.

oh in that case, you need to do it in a right speed, the head of the bird facing your hand and the racket is parralel with the bird's side. practice is the only advice i can give.
