The Starting Stringing Tension

How can you tell what tension your racquet is strung to? If I press mine down with both thumbs, it goes down about...half a centimeter in both spots. Muscle Power 7, default stringing. I doubt it would be more than 20, though, that's the given limit.

I don't think you can tell the tension by simply pressing down your thumbs. I am living close-by PM me I restring it for you if you want.

muscle power 7 is about 16-17lbs to start get it restrung soon

Ok, thanks. I'm planning to get it restrung tomorrow, actually. Do you know if BG66 comes in Yellow? It would be great if someone could provide me with a list of colours. Thanks in advance~

BG66 comes in a huge variety of colors from mybadmintonstore.com, but the US and the UK mostly stock white and yellow.

The UK dont even sell BG66 they only sell BG65, 65ti, 68ti, 80, 95.
They don't sell any of the rest

Hi Carrots, I'm sure local stores will have bg66 not talking about sportchek kinda stores but smaller badminton stores around the GVA.

I would actually recommend looking for private stringers in your area, because they usually string at a lower cost (no overhead compared to stores) and they sometimes carry large variety of strings to choose from. Support your locals! btw welcome to BC

Thanks XD How about the Crystal Mall? They have a "package" for if you want to buy strings from that store and string it. It's like, $7 to string if you get the strings from there. Do you have any insights on where to find local stringers?

I wouldn't go to crystal mall its quite expensive (string-wise).

Refer to #2 post on this thread, ilovedude is close by where you live, maybe you can give him a shout, I don't know him but it doesn't hurt to try.

I just like the idea of supporting local independent stringers

As oppose to the Auberdeen Mall in Richmond, the Crystal Mall is actually not too bad...BG65 strings cost $16 in Richmond, plus 12 labour cost-At Crystal Mall, I could get that for 20 total. But, I followed your advice and messaged him 'neways XD

my friend got his ns9000x from Aberdeen and i gave him a pack of strings and Aberdeen charged him 18bucks to string it. Sadly thats before i got a machine.

Crystal Mall on the other hand, some players I've play with have questioned their authenticity of their strings. While others are loyal customers so depends on your experience

Well, I recently purchased a Yonex Super Grap from the Crystal Mall and no one died from a racquet through the eye, so I'm assuming that the stuff from Crystal Mall is, at the very least, functional.

No don't get me wrong, I'm not doubting their authenticity; I've only purchased my court shoes from there but never strings/string service. I'm just saying from what I've heard from other players, but certainly you're the last one to make the call where ever you choose to go.

Ah. To tell you the truth, this is my first time getting a racquet re-strung. Previous years were using default dollar store racquets with the school team. This year, I feel as though I'm ready to upgrade. Still play only at school level, but going up against people who play at club level doesn't intimidate me so much as if my partner, who plays at club level, didn't train me.
