Hi everyone, i've recently begun stringing racquets for myself and friends with my eagnas 250. The other day, my friend gave me his Nanospeed 9000X and i strung it at 26x26 BG80 (as requested) and i gave it back to him today. Just as we were hitting up, suddenly, the b5 main just snapped. He had mishit the shuttle when going for a smash and it hit his frame :crying: Strange thing was that the cross knot also escaped the grommet. Upon closer inspection, i saw that the grommet there was actually semi broken and quite sharp. Could this be the cause of the problem? When stringing, i also remember that the string was 'twisting' a bit. I am stringing his racquet with the same specs again (free of charge of course) and i dont want this to happen again.
    Can someone please help me?
    Thanks

    Hi.

    1. Check if you are not damaging the main string when doing the knot for a last cross. Too much force applied here cuts a outer jacket of the string easily adn damages the core.
    2. Be careful with twisting string - tighting the curls damages the string.
    3. Change the grommet. Sometimes the grommet can have a sharp edge.
    4. Hope you were not using an awl here.
    5. You friend mishitting constantly and is very strong. Suggest to use a thicker string like bg65, bg65 titanium or ashaway rally 21 :)

Definitely change the gromment first, as it will damage the string during the process.

Change the grommet but I also suggest pre stretching.

    Prestretching will:

    1. Help remove the coil memory in the string helping to prevent kinks from forming

    2. Help prevent loss in tension once the string job is complete.

I also have another problem after stringing racquets. Sometimes after stringing, the racquet's head shape is rather round looking. Why is this so?

If the racket is not held down properly then you can deform the shape... also, it's one of the reasons that many people will string 10% higher in the cross direction, to maintain the shape.

I compensate for the 10mm shortening by stretching the racket out 7mm, it usually does the trick for me, and I make sure the side supports are very firm.
