Wow... Peter Gade actually lost one set to this unknown (to me) German 4-15 in the first round... pretty much shows that anyone can screw up. But he took the next two 15-9 each.

    Taufik wins either way.

he had an argument with PBSI (again). PBSI wanted to fire his coach and he was complaining since he claimed that the coach is the only person who can make him win the All England. so if he lose, he can blame PBSI.

if he wins, well, he wins.

Tam Kai Chuen got a set off Peter. And got to 11 points in the final game.

    Speculation;
Is Peter playing badly? Or.......a tatical ploy by Peter....
Peter's previous big tournamant results are marred by a lot of disappointments (Yes I know he's got the All-England and WGPF) but he could almost be described as the "Ivan Lendl" of badminton. i.e. getting quite close but not winning.

Now, in those tournaments the commentators have always said Peter looks in superb form and sails through the early rounds. The problem comes when he suddnely hits a real class player. He's got a whole different game to contend with and he gets an opponent who is not going to be a pushover. This would put a fair amount of mental strain (all those shots that were winners in prev rounds get returned). So the mental strain translates into arm tension and lack of accuracy.

So maybe, just maybe, Peter is trying not to win the earlier rounds "too" easily to avoid this problem. It's a dangerous ploy, though.

I think he's just playing badly. I read that Camilla Martin's been down with the flu, and if that's so then surely Gade's gonna be affected too...

It's 3.18 am (Singapore time) and I'm still keeping tab of the results online. By the time you guys read this, the game bwt Peter-Gade and Rony Agustinus would prob have ended but hey, dya know that Rony was leading 11-1 at one pt and lost the first set 14-17? The last time he played Gade at last yr's Indonesian Open, he lost 10-15, 9-15 and was praised by the great Dane himself.

Whether or not Gade is in good form, I must say that Agustinus' future seems to be full of light. At the ABC, he beat Wong Choong Hann and Marleve Mainaky before taking Taufik to 3 sets in the finals. Sad to say he lost the last two rather pathetically - but not coz Taufik was playing superbly.

I really hope he makes it... go Rony, you rock!!!

Still deciding whether to continue keeping score or go sleep...

There are no Indonesian singles players in the quarter finals - what`s going on?????? Taufik lost to Anders Boesen and Hendrawan lost to Hong Chen.
I`m also surprised that Ji didn`t make it through - Pullela Gopichand is playing well I guess.

Yeah man... what the heck is going on??? When I saw that Gopichand had won, I thought to myself, "Oh goody, it's gonna be easier for Taufik" but guess what... He lost to WHO????? As for Hendrawan, he had said earlier that he wasn't fit enuff... I remember reading abt him training darn hard to improve his physical fitness prior to Sydney. I s'ppose it's due to his age... if he wants to perform well, he has to go on a very rigorous fitness training.

What a no-show in the MS.... oh well, there's still the men's doubles.... no more surprises please!!!

I was very surprise to see the men's single results.
However the doubles will be interesting cause 3 indonesian pairs into the QF.
Any suggestion what's going on with Taufik, Hendrawan?

Their training got interrupted after the Olympics.
Then personal problems got in the way of Taufik's training.
    Hendrawen got married.

I am not surprised at all.

Remember Ji Xin Peng was hailed as going to be one of the "heavenly kings" of badminton. He's got some way to go.

    Camilla Martin

Much expected, Camilla Martin won over Pi yesterday. But that must have been a strange match...
    The results were 12-13, 11-1, 11-1...!!!
    Did anyone see it?
