    Hi Mp 99 Fans,

I just bought a Ashaway titanium power 990 that looks 99% like the real one.
    Specs:
    Head heavy; balance at 315mm
    racket weight; 3u
    Shaft; mid flex.
String: comes strung with ashaway guts at about say 23-24 lbs

Played one game with it so far, nice...but the ashaway feels different.
I will give a further review once I have more games with it and change the guts.

I am unable to send the picture...

    Cheers!

    Patrick

Strange... why would Ashaway want to copy a Yonex racket ?
They have good rackets of their own already. Personally think it would be better if they stick to their own identity.
Is it a real Ashaway ?

    Hi,

hmmmmmmmm, i have been sponsored by ashaway and i dont recall them ever producing such a racket. I'll email nick about it. It could possibly be a fake, because the last ones i knew they brought out were the XT-5000 and the XT-3000, along with a few other new titaniums. You sure they are not a fake?

Most likely its not fake and it's an authentic ashaway racquet...

Think about it... if someone is going to make a fake why would they make a fake of a clone instead of making a fake of the yonex mp99.

    They are not fake.
They are distributed by Pacific Sports, the Ashaway distributor in Singapore.
Btw, I've observed that Singapore seems to get the latest models much much earlier than most other countries.
The XT series that may seem "new" to countries in Europe, US and Canada are almost discontinued here in Singapore.
Even the TMP series have been sold here for more than a year already.
The Titanium Power series just made it here a couple of weeks ago.

Yeap, these new Ashaway rackets are definately not fake.

There're so many clones of the Yonex MP90 available in Singapore. Brands like Sintec, Ashaway, Impact, ProAce, etc.

Well, the racket is a Ashaway...infact, in the racks was also a YY Mp 99. The paint job on the ashaway Titanium power 990 is slightly better than that of the Mp 99.

Maybe, Ashaway is riding on the "yellow racket" wave....kind of everybody's talking about it...."so have one of my brand" etc...

Yep, the clonex are out in force...

I recently saw Fleet's version of Yonex MP90/99 and Fleet differentiate it by having it orange instead of yellow.

    Here's Winex version. :)

Don't ask how it plays since I haven't gotten my hands on it yet.

amazing how influential Yonex is. they release a racket and everybody rushes in to copy their color scheme trying to get a share of Yonex's power in marketing and product image.

the ashaway titanium power 990 is definitely a fake. if you would compare it with the mp99, every word written on the frame is exactly the same. except of course for the word "titanium power 990". i recall talking to a shop owner who also sells yonex clones, ashaway, yonex, winex and other brands are manufactured by a generic racket factory in taiwan. you can even have your own name as the brand. ashaway did not copy the mp99. the cloners did.
