Hello all I've been using my Carlton Airblade 1000 for some time now and have just brought a Yonex MP77, this is a good power racquet but its too heavy and slow for me, I would like a yonex racquet that is fater then the MP77 and more power then the AB 1000 does anyone have any suggestions? Thanx
I'm an owner of AB1000 too. Was using it last time too but have switch to Ti-10 now. Ti-10 will be a prob though if u find MP77 heavy. Another recommendation is MP-88, which comes in 3U. Have used it and it feels just like a 3U Ti-10. Go have a try
Thanx Blitx I'll give it a try and if I like it I'll have to save up some money cause the racquet is so expensive. In the mean time can I borrow your Ti-10
Yeah have to agree that the racket is quite expensive and since MP-88 is still a new racket. In fact I think all the Yonex 3U light rackets are kinda expensive too (dunno why) Another one can be ISO Ti-SX but that one is still expensive too. Another suggestion is maybe to try some non Yonex rackets like perhaps Forza? Hee we're several continents away, how to lend you my Ti-10?
I agree, I can't imagine how expensive Forza's racquets can be. I am also an owner of an AB1000, I don't really like it because it is too light and evenly balanced. The good side about it is that it's very manueverable. If you want something similar to it, I would suggest a 3U Ti8 pr Ti10. But those racquets are hard to find nowadays, if you can find one, it might be fairly expensive. Racquets I would recommend that are still in production is the SP-SX or SP-SR. The SR will feel similar to AB1000, with more power, but a tiny bit slower because AB1000 is stiffer. The SX might be heavy cause it is head-heavy, but you might get more power. The SX can even be or on par with the AB1000 in terms of swing speed if you have the right technique. The AB1000 can swing so fast because of it's aerodynamically design. I own a AB1000 and SP-SR myself. But boh racquets are starting to get laggy and feels lighter, therefore limiting my smash power.
Oops sorri didn't know Forza is exp too as I dun have one b4. 3U Ti-10 is great but provided u can still find them, it's kinda rare. The SP u were refering, are they the ISP 900 series or the Ti ISP series? Cos if it's the ISP 900-SX u're referring to, I will seriously advise not to get it! It's very heavy and I have actually switch from it to AB1000 cos I still can't get used to it even after 1 month I think it's even more head heavier than Ti-10 IMO.
It's a powerful racket but sweet spot is very small and especially when u're used to Iso-head rackets. Like what Gladius had say to me too, it's not a very forgiving racket. Think it like a AB1000 but more head heavier
Any1 know what the Isometric Titanium Swing Power SX version is like? I really like the new paint effect on the thing but want to know what its like compared to the MP77, oh by the way I forgot to mention that the MP77 is the long version. Also I played with my friends ISO 800 Tour SP and boy did I love this racquets all my shots seemed much better! Is the Ti ISP SX like this racquet is there any racquets similar to it? Thanx
I wouldda thought so TDotSmAsHer because carlton racquets are more aerodynamic then yonex racquets they "cut" through the air.
well my AB 1000 has lasted a long time but the paint chips very easily compared to Yonex MP and in pretty big chunks. I cant say about sweetspot as I never used a carbonex
Hrm... I wonder If I play oval head for a while..... then switch back to iso head... would I be hitting sweetspot everytime on Iso?
well I play with oval head on my AB 1000 for about a year and eventually I usually hit the sweet spot but it was easier on an ISO head. These things just takes practice, you could get lower tension strings makes ur sweet spot bigger. But I'm more of a control player only need sweet spot for clears.
My friend has one of those... stiff... head heavy pretty light. dunno how it compares to mp-77 though..
I think the AS-ti is a very good racket. It is head heavy, widebody, aerodynamic and a very good doubles offensive racket. It will suit someone who is a very strong wrist player more than arm. The Ti Sp Sx is like the Ti 10 3U. Feels great, loads of power and if u have the good wrist work to get control then there is no mean machine like that arnd. Iso 900 Sx takes a decent bit of talent to play with. It is very head heavy and a dam good racket. Either u will love it or hate it. I know more plp who hate it. Ab 1000 was prob one of the Best rackets ever made. It is very defensive and damn good for someone who plays in the net as it easy to move arnd with and also to play parallels with lightning speed. If u want to buy something other than Yonex and at a decent price then u can try As-ti.
