    Hi all fellow BCers,

i am interested in purchasing my own stringing machine to learn stringing. I am interested to get the Pro's Pro Shuttle Express from Watdon. Is there anything else i should be aware of? I have no prior knowledge of stringing. On top of the machine, should i get any more clamps or tension calibrator. What about the calibration? Will it be easy for a first timer like me?

    Thanks in advance:)

Shouldn't be a problem, it's pretty self explanatory. If you're buying a new machine then there shouldn't be any problems but if there is don't try to work through it, send it back.

But what should really help is if you have a friend that has done this stuff before and get them to show you the ropes.

I also was a newbie to stringing. I bought Pro's Pro Shuttle Express few years back. I bought 4 yonex flying clamps as I found the ones that come with the machine is not good. For calibration I have a simple spring balance. All the answers to my stringing questions where easily found here in BC. I have now strung more than 100 rackets... lost count :) .

All the best to you :)

Actually if you want there's someone on YouTube named YULitle that has an excellent array of videos on how to string. He does tennis and is master racquet technician but the techniques and concepts can all be applied to badminton.

I'd suggest 4 flying clamps, especially if you do high tension, and a starting clamp. Other things I'd suggest are side cutters, needle nose pliers, pulling hook.

the one you are looking at should have 2 flying clamps. however, get 2 more flying clamps, and they offer YY ones, which are much better.

    that should be IT.

as for tension calibration, you can always get a digital scale (smalle one) from a local shop and calibrate it that way.

    have fun.

wow from Watdon, the shipping cost would be expensive.

I got my Wise2086 tension-head and Yonex flying clamp from them as well.

why you do not try to get from AEF ? www.aefsports.com

BTW, how much in SGD including shipping cost ? thanks

Any kinda models will do just fine for a newbie, you`ll learn the abc`s when you have one.I say a reel of string for twenty dollars is a must buy. You`ll need some when it comes to making the knots.

    I see ....
you may add Ashaway Zymax string (in 200m reel), because Watdon also sells this string.

Pretty sure Ashaway don't do the 0.62 in white here in the UK. I'm selling a couple reels of Zymax in the Buy/Sell forum if your interested. Zymax 0.67 in White or the 0.70 gauge in White also, £45 each or £85 for the two.

Knocked it down to £80 for the two reels. Obviously making a loss on them but it's stock I don't need.
