I looked for a thread exclusively for him, but was not successful. The thread about him is usually associated with either Gail Emms or Jenny Wallwork. Anyway, here's my question: What's up with his hair?
I'm not a great fan. He had an off day playing with Clarke at All Englands although his work rate wasn't that great. I do wonder what's going on inside his mind. It's dangerous to write him off as a player but I agree his court demeanor is questionable at times. He played the umpire pretty poorly in his mixed doubles quarter final and I think he was lucky not to receive a warning or worse. The line call was a bad one but we've all suffered them. OK, there isn't as much at stake for us compared to him, but what happened to being professional and taking the decision? I do respect him as a player but wonder whether we would have seen the same outbursts if England had any decent men to take his place? He's known for doing strange things with his hair but I guess we all thought he would have grown out of that by now.
Poor Nathan. No fans. His hairstyle is not balanced. Have you seen the left side? If you guys are saying that his hairstyle is associated with his game, well ... it didn't work this time. Oh. I miss Gail Emms. Funny that Nathan is always the associated player and not "the" player. He did a good job supporting Gail. Well ... that's just about it. I have nothing more to say.
dayem, what kind of hairdo is that?looks like he was tryuing to get a mohawak style haircut but decidded to stop halfway.or maybe he was buzz cutting his hair but the blade of the razor broke halfway through his haircut?
Not a great fan of him either. I agree with Paul that his behaviour on court is questionable sometime. And to be honest, not many people I know like him(partly due to his attitude during training). This is what I heard from a bloke when he was watching the olympics badminton games in Athens. When the bloke was hanging out in a bar on the night before the mixed double final match, he bumped into Nathan. And Nathan was there drinking by himself and the bloke feel odd as he thought Nathan should be resting for tomorrow's final. Co-incidentally, that bloke stayed in the same hotel with Nathan and he bumped into Nathan in the lobby the next day. He remembered Nathan mentioning that his legs were a little bit weak due to excessive drinking the night before. Mind you that the above was just a hear say I got from a friend(that bloke). So it's best not to take my word for it as I am slightly biased against him(as I blamed him for the England loss in the 2004 Olympics games).
A number of England players adopted this hair style for the AE 2010 - I heard that it was meant to be a parody of the new style of one-sleeved shirt now worn by Taufik, Gade and others Now if only the England players could match the actual badminton of Taufik, Gade and others... smautf
Hey hey, in case your interested (and you said you missed Gail Emms) she’s now writing an official blog for realbuzz.com if you want to check it out
Yeah and she's already back in training and playing. Gail, Nathan Robertson and a coach they know go round doing master classes- would be great to go to one! My skills could definitely do with brushing up!
I was a fan of Nathan Robertson when he played with Emms. It seems as though he needs a disciplined partner to stop him losing focus in matches/moaning at the umpire. To be fair I tend to make the same mistake and lose focus and blame bad luck.... Maybe because I got into badminton from following Emms and Robertson at the og in 2004 I do still like watching Robertson play though. He does seem to care about winning and does put more emotion into things than many other players. I guess whether you like this or not depends on your own personal preference.
