It failed before and doesn't have any track record. So if it failed again, heads will roll? This decision is very brave indeed. Playing with fire.

They have to do something and take chances. If not, are there any other ways or method?

If they don't do anything, perhaps heads will not roll. Just do what is normally being done here. Its the mental part that needs improvement. Not any other excuses.

BAM's complaint is probably based on why it was not considered among the 5 selected ones, even though it offered the same prize money as another three other countries, England, Denmark, and China.
The reason BWF gave was that BAM did not submit a proper bid.
    can i ask u a question
    u believe bam more?
    or bwf?

I'm not surprised. BAM is not known for their organisational skills. It shows in the way they send their backup players for tournaments, reflecting poor abilities in planning and understanding how players build up competitive skills, etc.Who knows, if they had hired the BCF team that organised such a fantastic tournament for us during TC10, BAM success may have been certain.

BAM believe ‘isolation preparation’ can reap success in world meet
    ...
They will be accompanied by seven sparring players (three singles and four doubles), six coaches (Rexy Mainaky, Rashid Sidek, Misbun Sidek, Pang Cheh Chang, Hendrawan and Teh Seu Bock) and team officials as well as a support team from the National Sports Institute (NSI), which hopefully will not be bigger that the badminton squad.
    ...
In fact, it is cheaper for us to stay at the Bath University because of the MoU (Memorandum of Undestanding) signed between the university and the Malaysian government.
“Malaysia have never won the world title and we want to stay focused on achieving success there although it will cost us a little more.
“If we fail at the world meet, it will show that we have failed in our processes. But we think, this approach is worth trying.”
BAM general manager Kenny Goh said the team would only be charged £1,300 (RM6,330) for the use of the state-of-art sports facilities at the university.
There will be additional costs for accommodation (ranging from £18-£45 per night), food (£20 per person) and flight.
“The players will be able to use the badminton courts for six hours per day. The use of the swimming pools and gymnasium are for unlimited hours. We believe that this arrangement will be an advantage for our team,” said Kenny.
In 2006, Malaysia spent about RM400,000 to train one week earlier in Madrid for the World Championships in Spain. And the outcome – none got past the semi-finals.
    - So, there are 15 players + 6 coaches + 9 team officials/support personnel/team doctor...will they bring their own chef as well??..i know last time they brought their own chef to cook the M'sia dishes (forgot which tourney, was it the WC last yr in India??)..
    - Let's see, let's do the calculations from Aug. 10-20:
I assume the RM6,330 is for 1 day facility rental? If multiply by 11 days, that's equal to abt RM69,330
Accommodation: Let's pick the highest cost @ abt RM220(£45)/night multiply by 11 days = abt RM2,420 multiply by say 10 rooms (2 people each room) = abt RM24,200..of course, the team officials will most likely stay at a nicer accommodation..
Food: @ abt RM97(£20)/person/day multiply by 11 days = RM1,075 multiply by 30 people = abt RM32,274...if they bring their own chef, maybe can save a bit more..
Air ticket: let's say they fly @ RM3,600/person RT multiply by 30 people = RM108,000
Add those numbers up: 69,330 + 24,200 + 32,274 + 108,000 = cheaper but at least more than half of the 2006 budget of RM400,000
How about transportation? How far away is the lodging from the training facility?..
The one in 2006 WC, how many players were included? How about total number of people who traveled??..
If they fail to win any title, will BAM reduce the budget even more for the next major event??..

who suggested the remote training? Need to get him to bite the bullet.

Sounds like a holiday to me more than training. There better be results for the one suggesting this...

    a good calculation...

countdown to firing squad. It reminds me of england training in high altitude....
limsy is correct, shd use the money to send the juniors out. The seniors already have the experience and skill, all the need is to beef up their own mental and not blaming on media. An already loosing attitude even before reaching or playing. Sad case.

All this money, we should use to expose younger players. At least send more MD to SS la, most of the time got 2 from BAM only.

Chris, thanks for the calculation. I agree that those seniors going there are already skillful enough (some can play fancy stuff). It's the mental part and for this aspect, no need to go so fay away, just bring the professional in to save cost. The money saved can be used to send the juniors, as mentioned. They need exposure.

Currently BAM is going for short term goals.. always short term goals when major championships is approaching. They dont have time to think about sending JRs abroad as of now. It is a shame that they didnt want to send the gals to the worlds. They should have and let the girls experience it. Since Chin Ee Hui and WPT is out.. might as well let the younger ones try it out..

sending our mas team to bath university for an isolation preparation just before the world championship

is one hell of a good support from bam, all because of the wc title at stake.

at one glance, its a huge amount of money to be spent but considering our small ringgit value

bam just have to pay for it

however, if they don't come back with any title we can only imagine the noise...

in reality, do the players need it?

yes, its very simple, really, they get adaptations and almost free from outside interference during training

thus being better prepared, it means physically and mentally which are what the mas team needs at this moment

a player could turn out to be different if he or she goes through this stage right before the tournament

of course this is true only when their mind were set 100% for that from day 1

At the moment.. we just have to support what they do. They will just have to answer if there is no result when they return home. I mean BAM have to answer. I hope Datuk Nadzmi will not point fingers at Chin Chai. I do really wish we will come back with a Gold.
