If all turns out well, there will many rich Malaysian players and coaches, to be rewarded with cash, presidential bonuses from the BAM president, land, more datukships, etc. The states from where the players hail from will also want to show their generosity. The prizes will be significantly richer than 1992's.
But it will be a headache for BAM to find the money for the rewards. Awarding titles like datukships is simpler than raising cash and buying land for the winners.

We were never really the favourites in 1992 as China were power packed but when Rashid (Sidek) beat Zhao Jianhua in the semis, everything started to happen for us. We are in the same boat this time and the players must be inspired by the 1992 squad," said Misbun during the mental training camp in Port Dickson yesterday.

"We have two solid chances in the first singles and first doubles and we must win them as this will motivate the others to battle hard to bring us success.

We curse it when we are at the wrong end of the stick; praise it when we benefit.
That tells us why we are very human, each one sees the same thing differently; in one word we are quite subjective.

Doubles shuttler Koo Kien Keat said that the payout was timely.
“The players are very happy that all the money has been paid. We are delighted to receive the bank statements from our president today,” he said.
“For me, the money owed was from 2007.
“It’s a big relief and there will be no more headache for me as far as my finances are concerned.
“Players would be happy if the BAM can pay on time in future to avoid unnecessary stress on us.
“This payout will certainly be a great encouragement for all the players ahead of the Thomas Cup Finals. There will not be outside pressure or distraction. This will certainly motivate us to continue with our efforts to regain the Cup.”

“We could not pay out the money earlier because the association did not have enough cash flow and lacked sponsors,” said Nadzmi.
“But I had considered it as a good problem because it showed that more players had done better to enjoy our incentives over the two years.
“The government’s aid came in at the right time. Our Prime Minister wanted to solve this problem so that the players could give full concentration to the Thomas-Uber Cup Finals. I hope that they will be able to give undivided attention on the task ahead.”
“The BAM will look into this. The success of players are also due to the support staff and we may look into introducing an incentive scheme for coaches next,” he said.

Wouldn't it be good if people in this world could stop meddling in the affairs
of other countries, even though it arises from people long out of touch with the home nation.A good practice would be to produce and article and open it for discussion (instead of jumping to conclusions and making biased opinions and the like), just like Loh in his Singapore column.Also personal opinions and views should be distinguised from facts and hidden agendas make unhidden.

My justification is this:

1) Unfounded statements,opinions,personal worldviews may carry misconceptions and influence which must be refuted as the whole world has access to it, you only have to google the key word and you'll be surprised at the result.
2) Statements with political implications can be imflammatory and be best left to politicians and rabble rousers.Malaysia ia a maturing society and enjoys a high literacy rate, people can make their own decisions.We are now working hard to further develop this status quo, we are no longer the Msia of our grandads.Continuing a discussion on politically sensitive issues can lead to opening a can of worms, its like stripping yourself naked and letting the world see all your warts.Even the Malays have a saying,"splash or disturb the water in the basin and drench yourself. " We are trying to mature, please don't be a sadist by creating more discourse.
It is bad taste to interfere in the affirs of other countries, and also of a home country from miles and years ago.

It is no different from say people crying liberate Tibet, return to Tian Ann Men etc what really is their agenda?

“The government has finally given us a new land. Work will start on building our own training centre. This was decided during the executive meeting on Friday,” said Nadzmi.

On why the BAM did not make early preparations to book the stadium, Nadzmi said: “There is always room for improvement. We will look into this.”

Thomas Cup: Team feeling recharged

We managed to get the local police authority to help out on this programme where our instruction was for the players to not forget their ICs. Some forgot and this is a simple lesson on how important is to follow team instructions be it during tournaments or matches," explained Fred.

"The army obstacles training today (yesterday) was more physical while we also had late programme at midnight on Saturday where players were stationed alone on a hill for about an hour to battle fear.

"They compete in individual events and they are now working as a unit so it is important they maintain the spirit all the way."

National singles coach Misbun Sidek said that the camp, which ended yesterday, has made Lee Chong Wei more relaxed despite the pressure on him to deliver in every match.

"Chong Wei was tense but he is now relaxed. He has accepted the captain's role and knows he needs to give Malaysia a winning start in all matches.

He has accepted the responsibility and is very positive," said Misbun.

"This team have been together for the last two Thomas Cup campaigns and team spirit is good. I feel that everyone looks ready to share responsibilities."

Singles chief coach Rashid Sidek is satisfied with the commitment showed by the players and feels the simulation match at Putra Stadium on Wednesday at 6pm will give them the chance to test themselves in a match situation. We are hoping for the fans to make it more lively."

"All the programmes were pre-planned and the players have responded positively. They must maintain the team spirit throughout the tournament and stay united," said Rashid.

"We will announce the sides later."

Malaysian shuttlers get to keep all their tournaments earnings, which is not the case with Indonesia and China.
On top of that BAM also rewards players who deliver, in the form of presidential bonuses, incentive bonuses (LCW gets most of these), and monthly allowances.
Cash inflow in a timely manner becomes a real problem. If LCW keeps his no 1 world ranking for another 2 years, followed by KKK/TBH, then this will become a real headache for the president. He may get another heart attack!.
Can this go on forever? Huge cash incentives for performance is good but there must be a balance between giving all the cash to a few select high-performance players, who are not going to be on the scene forever, and the massive amount of money need for building the future of Malaysian badminton. How about building a proper badminton hall in even the smallest town, village, running monthly village or small town tournaments, a nation wide as well as a cluster of related towns badminton leagues for various ages, grades, etc?

I would like to know more about the simulation matches. Who will be pitted against who? Although this sounds impossible, I hope for Astro Arena to at least broadcast it instead of showing repeats of finals all the time.

They invite all public to go watch. It's at Stadium Juara, not Putra. Some glitch, BAM slow to book the Stadium Putra.
