BAM should plan this for players funds. Proper planning is important. This is their 'admin' job. Who's the finance director?

Badminton: BAM needs to buck up
2010/04/26
WILLIAM DENNIS, Subang Jaya
letters@nst.com.my
I REFER to "BAM told to buck up for Thomas Cup" (NST, April 21).
National badminton players training for the upcoming Thomas Cup tournament. Fans are having difficulty purchasing tickets to the games. so they show them their support.
I am not surprised that Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek was quoted as saying that he had expected the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), as the organiser, to aggressively promote the prestigious sporting event.
I called up BAM office at 9.45am on Thursday to check where I could buy tickets for the Thomas Cup finals. The staff who took the call told me to buy online at www.ticketpro.com.
My second question as to whether season tickets were available only drew a blank. "I don't know" was the response.
There was no reply when I asked the person how he could not have known, seeing that he was working with BAM.
I went to the website but could not see anything about the Thomas Cup tickets. While still on the website, I called BAM again from another line and told him that I couldn't see anything about purchasing the tickets.
He said there was but I stood my ground, only to draw a rude reply from him: "I cannot help you."
It is less than three weeks to go before the Thomas Cup matches start but local badminton fans are still unsure as to where they can get the tickets.
BAM should have aggressively promoted the event and started selling the tickets a few months ago, as badminton has a strong following in Malaysia.
As an ardent follower of Malaysian badminton, I feel that it is time for the BAM management to sort out its internal problems or gracefully step down to make way for new blood to lead the association and take Malaysian badminton to new heights.
Some people have been there too long, which probably has been the reason for complacency. When the national team does well in international tournaments, they would be the first to want to take photographs with the team.
To BAM, I say keep your staff informed of developments and educate them to deal with the public politely and professionally.

Public invited to witness no holds barred simulation ties
We are staging the simulation ties in the evening to follow the schedule for the Finals and it is also to get the public to come and see our players action,” said Misbun. “We have assembled the best players we have for the event. I hope the Malaysian fans will turn up to fill the stadium to help us create the environment to get the players into the mood before the Finals.
“I am sure the shuttlers will hold nothing back as we are also giving cash incentives to the winning team.

Simulation ties for shuttlers
We are staging the ties in the evening in the hope that fans will turn up and see the players in action," said Misbun at Juara Stadium yesterday.
"A good turnout will get the players in the mood and motivated. It will also create a competitive environment." The Thomas and Uber Cup ties will involve shuttlers of both teams, a few national back-up and youth players. The format is three singles and two doubles.
