Hi Guys, What is going on with LD, He lost to bao chunlai last week and now he lost to Peter Gade, is it because XXF is absent during the tournament or he can't focus on tournament for some other reasons.

    ^^Are you sure?????..^^

    ..or you're joking??..
..i don't want all the Taufik Hidayat supporters (esp. that Hau-ge) coming down hard on you but yes, he did beat Lin Dan at least once: during the 2005 WC Final (2nd time in 2006 AG MS Final)...*you probably weren't around or following baddy during those times..;)

That is what happens when a player parties instead of taking things seriously.

I meant in recent times... I'm a TH fan myself, I know he beat him in 2006 Asian games but hasn't done very well since then :(

also, LD always complained about the cash prizes of SS, when they raise it from 2011, LD will be a new man.

    wow
LD really struggled to get motivated today. sluggish on court, plays were predictable, and Gade was sharp and determined as ever to (finally) get the W over LD. I guess winning the SO wasn't going to make up for gettin knocked out of the AE.

Perhaps LD has reached the stage where, for some unconscious reason, struggles to perform outside of the biggest of the biggest events. Like Roger Federer at the Master series. Hell, even the AE is becoming routine for LD. He's won it 4 times and been in the final for most of the past decade. So I think it's safe to say it's hardly the end of the world for him if he fails to win the "100th AE".

Certainly wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that only the two biggest tournaments, the Worlds and the Olympics, are what keep him on the circuit. :)

You guys are just plain mean.:p
    Can't a guy have an off-week, or an off-month?

Remember when LD was crushed in the Thomas Cup 2008 and people were saying he'd choke in the Olympics, too?

The man has been training and playing for years and years. His handlers pushed him to new limits for the OG (look at those big arm muscles that he apparently didn't need to win everything else before that). He won all the fame and glory that could possibly come to a badminton player. Then a year of endorsements and a well-deserved rest from the circuit.

So now it's 2010. It must all seem anti-climactic. He's probably going through an existential crisis. What's left, other than defending this title and that. What's his new goal? What does it all mean?

Being the proud guy that he is, I suspect a few losses will be just the tonic to get him chomping at the bit again. Never fear, he'll be back.

The challenge for him now, will he ever get back to form even he is willing to clock in extra hours? TH trains hard these days but he is still struggling a bit due to his age.

Remember LD is no longer the 20 years old young lad who seem to be able to run all day long. He is turning 27 at the end of this year and he is getting millions of $$$ by just showing in advertisement. Would you get motivated again if you are as rich as him? I certainly won't. Hopefully, it's still not too late yet. Looking forward to his performance at TC.

sloppy LD + sharp PG = result today!

the game was boring to watch, and very few good rallies.

the turth is LD didn't played that well since that match (2008 MSF), and that was 18 months ago! i dont agree that he is on his way down he is too young and too good for this. the problem is really the motivation. He'd won everything there to be won and most of them more than once with one exception, and 2012OG is over 2 years away. lets hope he will find something to keep his interest on until then.
