After beating a tired Koo % Tan and the Korean pair,

is this pair on the way to overtake Cai Yun and Fu Hai Feng?

and they are both only 20 years old!

so this is the reason why Koo and tan loose to CHAI BIAO / ZHANG NAN ?????

koo/tan and CHAI BIAO / ZHANG NAN has a difficult match @ the previous day against koo/yoo and CAI / FU ,,,, but remember that ZHANG NAN has to play in mixed double too,,, so,,,,i think that ZHANG NAN must be more tired than koo/tan ...

With Guo Zhendong/Chai Biao winning the MAS SS title last week, I am pretty sure that LYB will keep the senior/junior pairing for a while first. They should be more promising than either Guo/Xu (with Xu being the weak link) and Chai/Zhang (with Chai obviously the hard hitter that can pair up with the more-experienced Guo).

With this new pairing and either Shen Ye/Hong Wei or Tao Jiaming/He Hanbin, CHN is hoping that they can complement Fu/Cai and hope to have at least 2 pairs for next year's big game.

Oh I see, how long do you think it will be before they get these 2 playing together again?

Also I never heard of Shen Ye/Hong Wei, they can't be very good? I also don't think I have ever seen Tao Jiaming/He Hanbin get anywhere either, what are your thoughts in terms of potential and growth for those pairs?

I only know chai biao is 1 hard smasher.. he broke a racket during a match against mas pair in mas open 2011..
Its nice watching him play in front of your own eyes though. Just like watching FHF,LD,LYD,LCW and many top players and smashers in action.

I think they'll try to pair both of them with more experienced players to get experience and not be too dependant on each other...Zhang Nan is probably playing more from the back court when partnered with Xu Chen rather than Chai Biao, which should improve his MD abilities there (although I'm a bit surprised he's not as good as Chai Biao, as he is the better XD player). I guess they'll play more tournaments together later...problem is, one always has to partner Xu Chen, which practically dooms them to lose. I hope he can improve, 'cause he's pretty much the weakest of the 4 (Guo, Chai, Zhang, Xu).
I'm kinda rooting for Chai/Zhang to become the 2nd Chinese MD pair in the Olympics - exciting stuff :) I'd love to see them win a medal. Although Gold should really go to Cai/Fu :D

I am rooting for Chai/Zhang too as Cai/Fu as much as I like them they will be retiring at some point and it seems for China there is not really anyone at the same level as them that can take over at the moment anyway.
I was thinking that they had potential because to me they seemed like they were interchangeable and could switch places.

wow this chai biao guy is quite something.. beat JJS/LYD

guo zhen dong... well, he's kinda consistent but that's about it really... not particularly powerful, and his mental strength/ composure nothing to write home about either. seems like a strong B team player who can occasionally give the A teamers a run for their money.

Well its not Chai Biao alone who beat them - he works really well with Guo, better than with Zhang Nan, it seems. This pair is very balanced, which may work to their advantage against the Danes (hopefully), as they're not much weaker in one formation. As soon as Matthias Boe is kept at the back, the Danes are significantly weaker and (normally) lose most points. I'm really rooting for the Chinese - in both matches, the performance of TBH/KKK at the GO wasn't even fun to watch anymore - not only were they outclassed, they completely stopped trying halfway through the second game. I understand that the GO is not a big title for them, but still....

chai biao is really quite special , as is zhang nan

i rank them as A-team players, real champion mindsets

Its a shame zhang nan and chai biao dont play together more often, probably cos Zhang nan is so special Chinese coaches dont want to exhaust him by playing him in MD and XD.

therefore, poor chai biao has to be paired with a "filler", and who better to perform the filler role than Guo zhen dong - a second string player who fills the gaps.

Thats a bit harsh, Guo used to play with Xu. LYB decided that Xu would be better suited to XD than MD and he saw an opportunity to switch Xu to XD with Ma Jin. Zhang was told to focus on his XD with Zhao Yunlei, this left Chai Biao and Guo Zhengdong without partners. It only made sense to team them up.

Maybe after OG12 will Chai/Zhang reunite. Guo might end up playing with LYB's son (Li Gen):)
