Default why do i keep missing the shuttle (I'm a noob)

I'm a freshman in high school and just started playing jv this year. I've played a few months and everyone is destroying me. Why is my wrist/arm so sluggish and why does it (often) hit the frame/handle?? What can I do to get better? I miss the shuttle a lot.
Also, how did you play when you just started? I'm curious.. because I suck so badly and my confidence is hitting rock-bottom. My friend is on top varsity is so mean and he won't play easy on me, it's his first year playing and he's already really good??! WTF

Most of the time when people are having trouble with timing is because they're putting too much effort into a forceful swing. Shuttles don't take much strength to hit, so just take it slow, make sure you actually get proper contact, and go from there.

Another thing that's difficult when you're first starting is hitting the shuttle while you're moving, as you have to account for both your motion and that of the shuttle. To start off, try to make sure both your feet are planted and you are not moving when you hit it.

why not ask a friend of yours in the varsity who is better than you or more experienced in badminton and asked him to play and teach you every session? if you don't have a friend at least the closest ones to you. You'll lose nothing in asking so go ahead and give it a try. keep us updated though

    Thanks, I did
I never asked varsity member before because i'm so embarrassed of my bad playing, I usually rally with my other friends who (no offense to them) play as horribly as I do. some people just started like us and can already play really well. I'm getting a little better but not much. maybe some people are just born with the talent? they have good hand-eye coordination. my former boyfriend used to help me play (hes in varsity) but now i can't even talk to him..

hit drives against the fall as hard as you can continuously (aka all shots max 2.5 meters above the ground).

Your wrist will get very tired, but your reaction speed will increase, you'll see yourself hitting the bird with the strings more often and your wrist muscles will get stronger/faster. FYI, if you really are hitting it as hard as you can each time continuously, a rally of 5 shots vs the wall is already good for a beginner.
