Hi, I bought a Mp 55 a few months ago and I have always strung it at 24 pounds. Now I wanna try 26 pounds. I know that it'll shorten the life of my racket but will the racket snap on my first hit?
It really depends on the condition of ur racket and ur "luck". If the racket is almost in perfect condition, and u r not a dealy smasher, and u can avoid all the clash, then, I don't see 26lb is a problem. However, higher tension do result in shorten the life of a racket. If the racket already experienced some clashes and had some scratches here and there, then, try not to put too much pressure on it. To me, 24lbs is surely high enough already, why even bother to go for 26?
i never had a racquet break strung under 28 lbs. not even if they were old and i hit partners racquet. at 28 and more how ever i had racquets break. only twice from just a smash but 4 times by racquet on racquet. since i lost 6 nice racquets at 28-30lbs i figured ill stay bellow 28. works out for me. i dont think mp99s and 100s (played 100 before i got 99) are stronger than 55s so your 55 should be fine if you stay under 28. i never had one tho so i dont know 100%. if you dont wanna take the risk 24 lbs is very playable anyway id say (i use 25 at the moment). if you do try 26 i wish you good luck that it dont break.
I think your MP55 should be ok with 26 pound, but when you clash it, hmm..... I don't think it will survive BTW... You can even string it at 30 pound as long as you are using 6 position (knot) stringing mac
breaking tension It is really not the issue of how high the racket can hold the tension, the question is at what tension the racket would not damage when string breaks. The highest stress on the racket occurs when the string breaks because there is not machine to help the racket then.
Not sure if anyone will still be checking this thread but i just wanna say..... Before i got my wrist injury i used to string my racket around 27lbs. But the thing is this, yes the racket can take up to 30lbs. If its new, u can string it that tension about 2 to 3 times. Before it breaks. Thats why the pros who use SP rackets can string at such high tensions...... Just that they change their rackets so often, we seldom see a break.
Haaaa, I see. What about JP rackets? How many times can they withstand 28 to 30 lbs? And how did you injured your wrist in the first place, Byro?
Cheung, have you noticed any major drop in tension since the last time you had your MP-55 TH strung with BG-66 at 26 lbs? Any unusual sound from repeated high tension stringing? Is the frame holding up well since I saw your racquet at La Salle? Any crashes?
It's an SP version. Only been strung the once....and I've only used it a couple of times so can't really answer your questions. Sorry!
The closest I'm getting to any badminton is BF! Been just very busy trying to sort out some things recently
