Hi, I am new to Badminton and wanting to buy my first racket but am unsure of how to know which is the right one for me. My playing style is 50/50 Aggressive and Control. I'm Female, 180cm. Any suggestions or help is muchly appreciated.
Head heavy rackets or even balance? Weight 2U/3U/4U? Do you play singles or doubles? Its really based on personal preference. The best thing you can do at the moment is go to a racket store and hold different ones to see which type of racket suits you best and go from there. Generally if you can generate sufficient power to produce a killer smash, a stiffer racket would benefit you more and thus affecting which racket you choose.
yes, it does by a matter of fact. some rackets perform better with arm power, while some perform better with wrist power. normally, headilght rackets are better for wristy players. are you a wristy player? or a arm player?
Hey thanks for the help muchly appreciate it, I prefer a racket with a little head weight, a 3U generally is ok I find the 2U a bit light. I'm mainly singles but will occasionally play doubles. I'm a little more arm than wrist not much but a little.
My wife plays with the arcsaber 9 but she is very wristy. Have a look at the yonex 70 MG It's a 3u and head heavy. Shop around and you can get it cheap from a authorised dealer. It's head heavy and I have found it very good for control. I let a couple of people at my club try it and they went and bought one straight away. However it does come with that awful string so you would need to get it re-strung straight away. It works well with 68ti. Cheers Chris
how is armortec 900T for you? if you dont mind brands other than yonex, try APACS. APACS Tantrum 300. btw, 2U is heavier than 3U. You were probably confused when you wrote 2U is a little too light for me. You probably meant 4U is too light .
I have used the nanospeed 9900. And seriosuly stay in the yonex range (epic racket's). I would say arc 9 or arc 7 . Mianly because your new you will want a less stiff racket (arc7) arc 9 iis just a good racket with a girlish aspect
I recently purchased an authentic nanospeed 9000x. very fast swing speed, very good control. the racket is extra stiff, probably not good for a beginner. Excellent power on clears and excellent control on drops, especially slice drops. The racket has a powerful smash is you are able to flex the stiff shaft, but i have used more powerful rackets within this same price range.
Hey, thanks everyone for all your help, I ended up getting a Nanospeed 300. Played with it for the first time Wednesday
